How To Get the Lost Histories Quest in Oblivion Remastered
To get the intel about the Lost Histories quest, head to S’Krivva in Bravil, located southwest of Castle Bravil. Once there, speak with her, and she will explain that a book needs to be retrieved from Skingrad. She will further add that Theranis, the burglar sent to get the book, has not returned. Your objective in the Lost Histories quest is to find the thief, Theranis. However, you must fence at least 400 gold to get this mission.
Entering the Prison
As mentioned by S’Krivva, head to Skingrad’s west gate to begin the search for the thief. Once there, find a beggar named Foul Fagus to gather information. After bribing him, he will tell you about Theranis, mentioning stealing a book while drinking at a local lodge. Unfortunately, a city guard captain was present in the lodge, which led to Theranis’s arrest. Now, you have to either get arrested or find a way to break into the dungeon.
Next, head to Castle Skingrad to enter the dungeon located in the basement. Upon arrival, you will find a guard. Interacting with him will reveal that the castle’s butler, Shum Gro-Yarug, is looking for some assistance.
Find the butler near the castle’s dining hall and talk with him about the job. After securing the position, return to the basement to enter the dungeon.
Finding Theranis
When you enter the dungeon, you will find only one prisoner. Once you talk with him, he will reveal that the Pale Lady took Theranis away. The only clue you have is to follow the bloodstains left by Theranis’s cellmate, whom the Pale Lady took just a few hours ago.
Keep following the bloodstains, and after crossing the secret passage, you will arrive at a wine cellar. Next, head to the last big barrel on the right, where you will find a hidden lever to unlock a passage through the middle barrel.
Head inside, where you will find Theranis’s dead body, the Pale Lady, and Amusei. Eliminate the Pale Lady, then speak with Amusei to ask about the book. He will tell you that he knows the treasure’s location but will only reveal it if you help him exit the castle.
Retrieving the Book and Completing the Lost Histories Quest in Oblivion Remastered
To help the Argonian soldier, exit through the same path and arrive at the wine cellar. From there, take a right to enter the castle’s dining hall. Now, cross the dining hall to reach the courtyard. Then, leave the castle through the West Weald door.
After a short distance, a cutscene will trigger in which Amusei will say that the book is hidden in the bushes near a well by Nerastarel’s house. Follow the quest marker on the map to reach the mentioned location. Once there, search the bushes to find the book. At last, return it to S’Krivva to complete the quest.
