The ‘Sins of the Father’ quest can begin two days after completing the ‘Legacy Lost’ quest in Oblivion Remastered. Fathis Ules approaches the player in Chorrol and talks about a valuable object stolen by the father of the Jemane brothers, Albert Jemane, which he believes is now in the possession of ogres who have overrun the Weatherleah farm. Ules marks the location of the ogres’ cave on your map and tasks you with retrieving the mysterious object.

How To Complete the Sins of the Father Quest in Oblivion Remastered

The Redguard Valley Cave is located directly south of Chorrol, southwest of Molag Bal’s Shrine. Inside, you will have to cut down multiple ogres to reach the Ogre Chieftain. Ogres are straightforward and tanky opponents. They are weak to poison and can be kited easily. Watch out for their lunging attacks as they leap toward you. Once you have defeated the Ogre Chieftain, loot him to find the Honorblade of Chorrol.

What To Do With the Honorblade of Chorrol?

Once you have the Honorblade of Chorrol, there are three possibilities ahead:

  • Keep the Honorblade of Chorrol for yourself.
  • Sell the Honorblade of Chorrol to Fathis Ules.
  • Return the Honorblade of Chorrol.

Keeping the Honorblade of Chorrol

The Honorblade of Chorrol is a powerful long sword with a maximum damage of 23. It can become a formidable weapon in the hands of a Strength-based character with a high Blade skill. Enchantments will enhance the weapon’s potential to devastating levels. However, the ‘Sins of the Father’ quest will remain incomplete. We recommend completing the quest with either of the two remaining options and stealing the sword back if you still wish to obtain it later.

Selling the Honorblade of Chorrol to Fathis Ules

When you return to Fathis Ules with the Honorblade of Chorrol, you can sell it to him for 1500 gold. However, this is considered an immoral outcome. The brothers will refuse to believe your words, and you will gain 1 Infamy point after completing the quest. You can pickpocket the sword from Fathis Ules for a few days after the quest’s completion.

Returning the Honorblade of Chorrol

To return the Honorblade of Chorrol to the people, speak with Laythe Wavrick. He is very grateful and gives you the Escutcheon of Chorrol, the heaviest shield in the game. Unlike the Honorblade of Chorrol, the shield’s stats depend on your level, ranging from 12 AR to 22.5 AR. Complete the quest by speaking with the brothers. They will believe your story and reward you with four grand soul gems. In addition to a 20-point disposition increase with them, you will gain one Fame point.

If you want to steal the Honorblade of Chorrol back, you can do so by pickpocketing Laythe or the Countess a day or more later. You can only pickpocket the sword from the Countess when she is asleep. If the ‘Canvas the Castle’ quest is active, you can roam the castle freely without trespassing.
