The Path of the Righteous quest in Oblivion Remastered is part of the Knights of the Nine storyline, which requires recovering all Relics of the Crusader to face a mythical foe. Path of the Righteous tasks the player with finding the Mace of Zenithar, also known as the Mace of the Crusader. The mace is a powerful weapon that grants you 10 points of Fortify Blunt, making it one of the best weapons of its kind in the game. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough of the quest.

How To Complete the Path of the Righteous Quest in Oblivion Remastered

To start and complete ‘The Path of the Righteous’ quest, you must have:

  • 0 or 1 Infamy.
  • Boots of the Crusader, found during the ‘Nature’s Fury’ quest.

The mission begins when you talk to Sir Ralvas at the Priory of the Nine. He asks you to succeed where he failed by completing the challenge of Zenithar at Leyawiin’s chapel to earn the Mace of Zenithar.

Leyawiin’s Chapel

Fast-travel to Leyawiin in southern Cyrodiil and head to the Great Chapel of Zenithar in the northwest part of town. Once inside, Carodus Oholin will approach you, revealing that he too had failed to complete Zenithar’s challenge and now guards the relic. Enter the chapel’s undercroft, fight through the ghosts, and pray at the Tomb of Saint Kaladas.

Praying to Zenithar at the tomb will transport you to a dark, void-like dimension. Across the chasm ahead lies the Mace of Zenithar. Equip the Boots of the Crusader to reveal a bridge of light leading to the mace’s platform.

If you are unable to equip the Boots of the Crusader, check your Infamy in the “Character” tab under the “Details” section. If Infamy is above 1, you will need to complete the Pilgrimage quest to lower it. Only then can the boots be equipped. There is no way to cross the chasm or complete the quest without using the Boots of the Crusader.

Once you retrieve the mace, the quest is complete, and you will be transported back to the Chapel of Zenithar. However, upon returning, you will find the chapel personnel being attacked by Aurorans. Help them defeat these new Daedra serving Umaril.
