Otto’s Lock puzzle in The Outer Worlds 2 is one of the many enigmas that you’ll encounter in the game. This is a particular puzzle that involves 11 random switches that you must press in a certain order to access the secrets inside. Unfortunately, at first glance, it can seem impossible because there are no clues as to what the right order of flicking the switches might be. To get some help with this puzzle, you’ll actually have to progress a bit further. Let’s see exactly where you find the puzzle and how you can solve it.
Where To Find Otto’s Lock Puzzle in The Outer Worlds 2
The puzzle in question is at Free Market Station. However, you can’t straightaway access this area because you lack the coordinates to get there. Instead, you will have to work with Sub Rosa members to unlock those coordinates. Specifically, you will need to help out the greenhouse gardener in Fairway, named Emeline Galloway. If you assist her to clear Sub Rosa’s name from some illicit activities nearby, she’ll reward you with the Free Market Station coordinates.
Now, head to Free Market Station and proceed through the entrance section until you spot a Rift Anomaly to your left. Enter the room with the Rift Anomaly and then look to the right to spot a low entrance to another room. Crouch through and then proceed to the left. Climb up the ladder here to finally reach Otto’s Lock puzzle.

When you get to the puzzle, you’ll notice three rows of switches. The top row has three switches, while the bottom two rows has four switches each. To the left of these switches is a door with three lights. Your aim is to flip the switches in such an order that all three lights on the door turn green. However, solving this puzzle isn’t an option if you don’t already have the N-Ray Scanner gadget. You get this gadget after progressing the main story beyond a certain point in Golden Ridge. The N-Ray Scanner is critical for this puzzle because with it, you’ll be able to spot the wires and their arrangement for each switch.
You will have to flip the switches through which the wires pass from right to left toward the door. if it’s still too difficult for you to comprehend, here’s the order you follow to turn all three lights green.
- Flip the first two switches on the top row, beginning from the right. Next, flip the switch that’s in the middle row diagonally to the left of the second switch you flipped. Finally, flip the left most switch on the bottom row.
- Next, flip the first two switches beginning from the right in the middle row. Flip the switch that sits diagonally to the left from the last switch you flipped on the top row.
- Flip the right most switch on the bottom row, followed by the next two switches to its left. Lastly, flip the switch that’s diagonally left to the previous switch you turned on.
