Path of Exile 2: All Available Platforms

Which platforms is Path of Exile 2 (PoE2) available on? Will the sequel stay on PC like its predecessor from 2013?

The first time around, Path of Exile wasn’t available on all major gaming platforms right away. It started exclusively on PC. This was back in 2013. Over the years in the same decade, Grinding Gear Games expanded to Xbox first, and then Playstation as well.

This was also the reason why there was no crossplay available for the game back then. However, developers tried changing the entire scenery for the multiplayer aspect of the game. As a result, we will finally be getting Path of Exile 2 on platforms besides PC.

As per the game’s official website, the game will launch in Early Access on December 6th, 2024, on Steam, Epic Store, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. This is good news for action RPG fans who don’t use PC and also don’t want to miss out on a free-to-play RPG experience.

The developers also revamped the crossplay system for their upcoming game. While the first installment only featured crossplay between Microsoft Windows and Mac users, now you can expect complete crossplay. There are more surprises waiting for you along with crossplay.

Do You Need To Play PoE 1 before Path of Exile 2

PoE 2 hasn’t revealed its full release date yet. However, the game is confirmed to be released in Early Access next week. This is not going to be free for everyone, unlike the full release. If you can’t wait for the unannounced release date, you can always buy the different supporter packs and get on board with the rest of the fanbase in the coming week.

These packs will come at their own prices. They don’t just offer you Early Access but also grant their given bonuses within the game, which are mostly cosmetic. The developers are openly criticizing “pay to win” mechanics and probably won’t embrace it in any manner moving ahead. So, you shouldn’t be at a disadvantage for not accessing the game early.

However, if you have been a long-term fan of the series, you have an edge over casual players. Those who spent $480 through real-micro-transactions in Path of Exile 1 will automatically receive Early Access for its sequel for free.

This is a feature that the loyal fans would probably appreciate and praise. It should also work for those who are currently playing on consoles. Let us know in the comments which platform you will be playing on.
