The Checkpoint Flag serves as a respawn point if you die during your run. This is pretty handy and prevents you from restarting from the bottom, which can be frustrating. That said, here is what you need to know about the Checkpoint Flag in Peak.
How To Use the Checkpoint Flag in Peak
As the name suggests, a Checkpoint Flag in Peak is an item that lets you reset to a set checkpoint. However, you first need to set it up before the effect activates. You can do this anytime you want. If you think the path ahead looks challenging, place a Checkpoint Flag nearby by pressing the Plant button while holding it. The next time you or a teammate dies, they will respawn where the Checkpoint Flag is placed.
This is also pretty useful when trying to survive in the Roots biome with all the poisonous mushroom spores or clouds around the area. If you think you or an ally is about to die, quickly place a flag. This will let them respawn at your location after they perish. It’s also a good alternative if you are out of healing items and have no other choice but to respawn. This saves you a lot of time, as you no longer have to wait for them to catch up.
Another good time to use a Checkpoint Flag is before crossing any dangerous obstacle. If you plan on making a risky jump, place a flag first so you can respawn if you fail the attempt. In other words, use them only in dangerous or dire situations. Avoid using them too early in your run.

You can find a Checkpoint Flag by checking luggage boxes while exploring a biome. Fortunately, there are plenty of these boxes scattered around the map. Don’t forget to check every luggage box you encounter and loot what’s inside. However, you still need to be careful, as there might be hostile critters or zombies lurking around. Make sure to check the area for any hazards before opening these boxes.
