This PEAK guide will go over how to find and use the Book of Bones, an item tied to the Applied Esoterica Badge.
PEAK’s latest Roots update adds in a ton of new content for players to experience, but some of this content, notably the Book of Bones, charts well into the unholy category. Tied to the Applied Esoterica Badge, the Book of Bones is a new mystical item that allows you to revive teammates.
The Book of Bones is one of the strongest items in PEAK and is an absolute game-changer for your runs. The problem is, however, that finding the Book of Bones isn’t easy. PEAK offers little to no guidance to find this item, and you’re left to figure things out yourself. If you’re trying to unlock the Applied Esoterica Badge or simply need the Book of Bones to revive a teammate, this guide is for you.

How To Find the Book of Bones in PEAK
You find the Book of Bones inside the Ancient Luggage spread throughout the world. These are the giant suitcases locked with a chain and have a red crystal at the center. They’re super easy to identify with their unique characteristics. You’ll find them randomly while exploring the world, so be thorough with your search. Once you find the luggage, walk up to it and press E to open it.

How To Use the Book of Bones and Unlock the Applied Esoterica Badge in PEAK
Once you find the Ancient Luggage, press E to open it. Ensure that all your teammates are alive because the Ancient Luggage rewards you with a mystical item only when everyone is alive. Once you have the Book of Bones, you can then use it to revive a teammate or to turn yourself into a skeleton.
If your teammate is dead, wait for their corpse to turn into a skeleton. Then, walk up to the bones and press E to revive them and earn the Applied Esoterica Badge. They’ll be back to life, but as a skeleton. If all teammates are alive, you can read the book yourself, and this will turn you into a skeleton.
