The Disaster Response Badge in PEAK shows that you know how to help others instead of just focusing on your own survival. To get this badge, you have to use the Rescue Claw in a multiplayer run and save a teammate from danger.
The Rescue Claw in PEAK is a red and white grappling hook that you can spot easily. It is bigger than most items, so you will not miss it when checking through loot. In this article, we will explore everything you need to know about the Rescue Claw and the Disaster Response Badge.
What Is Rescue Claw in PEAK?
You can find it inside luggage scattered across different biomes, but it is rare, so you might have to check several spots before getting one.
The Claw has three charges, which means you can use it a few times before it runs out. You need to plan how to use each charge wisely. It can pull a teammate out of danger or help you climb cliffs if you play solo.
When used for rescue, the Claw lets you grab an unconscious teammate from a safe distance. This helps when the ground is unstable or when climbing down might take too long. In solo mode, it turns into a handy climbing gadget that saves stamina and helps you avoid risky jumps. It is especially useful in the Roots biome, where the terrain can get tricky.
How To Obtain the Disaster Response Badge in PEAK

Getting the Disaster Response Badge is a team effort. You cannot earn it alone since it only works in multiplayer sessions. You need to use the Rescue Claw to drag an unconscious teammate at least 30 meters.
Here is how you can do it easily:
- Ask a teammate to lose stamina or take fall damage until they are fully unconscious.
- Choose an open area with a smooth surface or gentle slope.
- Position yourself at a safe distance where you can use the Claw without obstacles.
- Use the Claw to pull your teammate across the ground for 30 meters.
- Once you hit the distance goal, the badge will unlock.
Keep in mind that dragging someone who is only kneeling does not count. If there are rocks or gaps in the way, the pull might reset, so pick your terrain wisely. Using the Claw on yourself also does not count.
A good place to try this is near the plane wing at the shore. Ask your teammate to faint there, climb a little uphill, then drag them back down. It is easy to control the distance and avoid obstacles that way.
You will also get the Climbing Helmet and Climber Outfit as rewards once the badge unlocks. They are a nice reminder of your rescue skills.
