This guide will give you some tips on how you can survive the mushroom-infested forest, Roots Biome, in Peak.

The Roots Biome in Peak is an area where traversing is a nightmare. You will always need to be on the lookout for dangers lurking in this fungal-infested forest. These mushrooms can be deadly due to the spores they release into the environment. On top of that, there are other threats moving around the area, which can sometimes cause you to come into contact with these spores accidentally. Needless to say, you need to be aware of what can kill you if you want to stay alive in this biome.
That said, this guide will share some tips on how you can survive the Roots Biome in Peak.
How To Stay Alive in the Roots Biome
Once you make it out of the Shore Biome in Peak, your next destination is the Roots Biome. This area is a forest where you can find different kinds of mushrooms that can poison the player. However, mushrooms are not the only hazards you need to be aware of in this area.
Be Careful With Gusts of Wind

While traversing the area, you will sometimes get blown away by gusts of wind. This can be dangerous, especially if you are close to a cliff. Fortunately, the wind takes time to build up before becoming strong enough to sweep you away. When this happens, grab onto the nearest tree trunk or gingus shelf and hold your ground. It’s better if you are against a wall so you don’t have to worry about being knocked back.
Do Not Pass Through Pink Smokes
Every now and then, you may stumble upon pink smoke floating around the biome. Do not run through these clouds of smoke, as they are poisonous. If it’s blocking your path, find a way around it to stay safe. It’s better to be patient than to waste valuable resources healing yourself.
Stack Up on Healing Items
It is better to stock up on supplies for this journey, mainly healing items that can cure negative effects. Good options are Cure-All, which is the best item to use against negative effects, or an Antidote. A new item to get is the Fortified Milk, which can temporarily prevent you from receiving damage or negative effects. If you are lucky, you can find a Mandrake or a Medicinal Root and cook it. Just don’t let it keep screaming in your hands, as it can apply the Drowsy effect, making you sleepy.
Dung Beatles Are Dangerous
In the Roots Biome, you can spot several critters, including dung beetles. While they may look harmless, don’t be fooled. They can charge at you and knock you back. Don’t let them catch you off guard, especially when you are trying to climb a slope. The best thing you can do is move sideways when they start charging an attack. Otherwise, hide behind a tree for cover.
Fungal Zombies Can Cause Infection

Aside from the critters living in this biome, there are also the undead you need to watch out for. These zombies have mushrooms growing from their bodies. You don’t want to get bitten by them while exploring the area, as their bites can cause a deadly infection. You need to use a healing item as soon as possible if you get bitten by a zombie. As much as possible, avoid any fungal-infested corpses. If you can’t avoid them, it’s best to run away.
