Samsung’s Odyssey 3D is coming! Check out the expected price, features, and how it works to turn your games & videos into 3D!

Samsung is releasing a super innovative new monitor in its Odyssey lineup, featuring glasses-free 3D technology. While this kind of tech was already available in certain laptops, seeing it in the form of a gaming monitor is finally happening. Let’s explore the features, pricing, and where to buy the new Samsung Odyssey 3D!
Samsung Odyssey 3D Monitor
Specifications
The display here is a 4K resolution (3840×2160) panel, sized at 27 inches. It sports a 165Hz refresh rate. The panel includes eye-tracking technology. Samsung is touting that this monitor delivers a crystal-clear 3D image without needing any glasses at all, which is surely going to be a super comfortable experience. Many gamers don’t like VR headsets at all, despite how innovative they may be.
Features
Monitors like these are going to level up the gaming experience, providing superior levels of immersion that weren’t possible before. The technology is also powered by Samsung’s proprietary lenticular lens, which works together with eye-tracking under the hood to deliver the 3D depth that our eyes would perceive when sitting in front of it.

For games, Lies of P and The First Berserker Khazan are notable titles that are going to support 3D effects. Samsung states they plan to partner with other game developers too, to bring more immersive 3D gaming experiences to this monitor. Hopefully, there will be enough development moving forward in this category of gaming monitors.
This may be wishful thinking, but this could potentially support 3D gaming for previously released games. Nothing too major as such is confirmed for now, though, and only a few titles will be supported initially. For watching content, Samsung has an AI Video Conversion feature on this monitor to turn existing footage into 3D effects. Reportedly, it supports “nearly all content,” which is quite exciting to hear. However, it does not support HDR and content with DRM protection, and it is mentioned that it may not support all video players.

There are system requirements for this monitor, with Samsung recommending RTX 3080 graphics with an Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 1700X processor as a minimum. The experience will require the Samsung Reality Hub application to be running, through which the user can access the 3D features.
The monitor also features “Edge Lighting,” which is light emitted into your environment that dynamically adjusts to the content displayed on the screen. This experience surely sounds like quite a treat!
Samsung Odyssey 3D Monitor: Price and Where To Buy
Samsung’s Odyssey 3D Monitor is now available to reserve here for the US. Its pricing is not confirmed as of yet, however, recent developments suggest the monitor will cost $2,000. A Best Buy listing was spotted, which was taken down later. This expected pricing comes from the leak. Do note that launch pricing may differ from this figure, as it was an early listing.
The pricing of this makes it one of the most expensive monitors that Samsung will offer. Not even the mighty Odyssey Ark, which costs $1,799 at the time of writing, costs as much as the expected pricing of Samsung’s Odyssey 3D. While this tech sounds impressive, it would be a better idea to wait for its release and judge how much the tech matures if you’re looking to get it for gaming.
