Pokemon GO has a robust competitive scene, where the best teams have formed a meta. It even has a place in the Pokemon World Championships. So in this article, we will be looking at the best combinations of Pokemon for you to use in the GO Battle League. This includes the Great League, the Ultra League, and the Master League.

Best Teams for the Current Pokemon GO Meta

For the Pokemon GO Great League Meta

1) Giratina Altered (Shadow), Corviknight, and Empoleon

Giratina Altered (Shadow)Ghost/DragonLeadDragon BreathDragon Claw and Ancient Power
CorviknightFlying/SteelSafe SwitchSand AttackAir Cutter and Payback
EmpoleonWater/SteelCloserMetal SoundHydro Cannon and Drill Peck

This is a team focused on Pokemon with defensive typings. As a result, all three of these Pokemon can take a hit, allowing you to play with your shields longer. On the flip side, due to their longevity, they force your opponent to use their shields faster. Empoleon should ideally be the last mon you have in reserve in clean games at the end. Giratina should focus on attacking upfront, while Corviknight should switch in to take hits.

2) Dusclops, Azumarill, and Bastiodon

AzumarillWater/FairyCloserBubbleIce Beam and Play Rough
BastiodonRock/SteelSafe SwitchSmack DownStone Edge and Flamethrower

This team is focused on dealing more damage, even though the mons have decent bulk as well. Dusclops is a better choice than its evolution because of its spammable moves in addition to its bulk. Azumarill needs a bit more support nowadays, but remains a powerful attacker if it gets it. Bastiodon is the main defensive support, tanking most neutral hits, but its damage output is low, so ensure it isn’t your last mon.

For the Pokemon GO Ultra League Meta

1) Galarian Weezing, Lapras, and Typhlosion

LaprasWater/IceSafe SwitchPsywaveSparkling Aria and Ice Beam
TyphlosionFireChargerIncinerateBlast Burn and Thunder Punch

In the Ultra League, it can be easier to break through teams due to the higher power level. As such, there’s a greater focus on dealing damage with this team. Galarian Weezing serves as a lead that does well thanks to its bulk and typing. Lapras is one of the best attackers in the Ultra League, capable of finishing games decisively. Typhlosion is here to nuke specific threats against this team like Corviknight, Virizion, and opposing Galarian Weezing.

2) Gastrodon, Drifblim, and Galarian Moltres

DrifblimGhost/FlyingChargerHexShadow Ball and Icy Wind
Galarian MoltresDark/FlyingChargerSucker PunchBrave Bird and Fly

This is a difficult team to use as both Drifblim and Galarian Moltres have Charged more technical moves that focus on dealing damage. However, Gastrodon makes this team work by switching in to take attacks that are not Grass-type. The slug is also great at dealing damage a bit more easily, balancing the team out.

For the Pokemon GO Master League Meta

1) Zamazenta Crowned Shield, Ho-oh, and Kyurem Black

Ho-ohFire/FlyingCloserIncinerateBrave Bird and Sacred Fire
Kyurem BlackDragon/IceChargerDragon TailFreeze Shock and Fusion Bolt

These three Legendaries are paired together as they handle each other’s threats so well. Zamazenta Crowned’s trouble with Fighting and Ground types is handled by Ho-oh and Kyurem Black, respectively. Any issues that Kyurem Black has with Steel- and Rock-types are dealt with by Ho-oh and Zamazenta. As for Ho-oh’s struggles with Water types, they are dealt with by Kyurem Black’s Fusion Bolt, while Zamazenta handles the Rock-types.

2) Kyogre, Palkia Origin, and Zacian Crowned Sword

Zacian Crowned SwordFairy/SteelCloserMetal ClawClose Combat and Behemoth Blade

This team loves to focus on dealing damage. Kyogre may not be the beast it once was, but very few mons match its consistency at this level. Palkia Origin has a great typing to deal neutral damage to a lot of Pokemon, while taking hits well apart from the occasional Fairy-type attack. As for those Fairy-type Pokemon, Zacian slices through them while the Water-types take care of the Fire and Ground types that bother it.
