These Pokemon are key targets in the Pokemon GO Water Festival 2025 for their battle prowess, shinies or because they are new.
The Pokemon GO Water Festival 2025 is starting on July 15, 2025, at 10:00 am and will continue until July 20, 2025, at 8:00 pm as per local time. As the name indicates, several Water-type Pokemon will be in focus during this time. This includes Tatsugiri, all three forms of which are making their Pokemon GO debut.
So, these are the Pokemon that players should be looking to add to their collection while Pokemon GO Water Festival 2025 is going on.
Top Pokemon For Players to Catch at the Pokemon GO Water Festival 2025
These are the Pokemon that players should target:
- Tatsugiri
- Lapras with a scarf
- Krabby
- Marill
- Wimpod
1) Tatsugiri
Tatsugiri is finally arriving in Pokemon GO. Each of the three forms is region-locked, with the Curly Form being found in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, the Droopy Form spawning only in the Americas, and the Stretchy Form limited to the Asia-Pacific. As it is a new Pokemon, players should try to get this Water/Dragon dual type at least to complete their Pokedex.

2) Scarfed Lapras
A special variant of Lapras is returning in the Pokemon GO Water Festival 2025. Lapras with a scarf will be available during this period, with lucky players even getting a chance to encounter a shiny version of this month. Additionally, Lapras is a good choice for the Great League and the Ultra League in the Pokemon GO PvP. Its high stamina stat makes it a good Gym Defender as well.

3) Krabby
Krabby is a bit of an odd call, but its evolved form, Kingler has somehow managed to remain relevant in the Pokemon GO PvE scene as a Water-type attacker. It’s a good pick for players on a budget for Gyms and Raids, thanks to its high attack stat and access to the Charged Move Crabhammer. Moreover, if you encounter a Krabby in the wild during this event, it has a chance to be shiny.

4) Marill
Marill’s evolved form Azumarill has also remained relevant in the PvP scene, especially in the Great League. This is because a Water/Fairy dual typing gives it some useful defensive capabilities in addition to having a powerful offense. As such, players should try hunting for a Marill with good stats because this might be the best time to do so. Moreover, like Krabby, a Marill encountered in the wild has a good chance of being shiny.

5) Wimpod
Wimpod’s evolved Golisopod is a top-tier threat in the Great League and Ultra League. This is more due to its access to the Fast Move Shadow Claw as well as Bug moves like X-Scissor and Fury Cutter. However, it still benefits from the resistances provided by its partial Water-type and gets STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) on the Charged Move Aqua Jet, which it will often use. And during this event, it also has a chance to be shiny.
