On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Ved Bamb, a.k.a. Beezleboy, made history as the first player from India to win the Pokemon GO World Championships. He defeated Leo Marin, a.k.a. P4T0M4N, at the Grand Finals 3-2. What’s interesting is that these players had already battled each other in the Winners Finals, where their last battle ended up being a tie ruled in favor of P4T0M4N. However, Beezleboy managed to beat Ewerton “LNDsRargef” Malvezzi in the Losers Finals to face off against P4T0M4N to take it all as the 2025 Pokemon GO World Champion.

How Did Ved Bamb Become 2025 Pokemon GO Champion?

Beezleboy brought the following Pokemon to his Grand Finals match:

Additionally, his Galarian Moltres was his Best Buddy.

Beelzeboy mostly relied on three Pokemon in his battles. These were Lapras, Galarian Moltres, and Shadow Steelix. Each of them had different roles to play and complemented each other well. Lapras’s access to STAB Ice Beam let it have a winning matchup against Cradily, the most commonly seen Pokemon at Worlds 2025 at the end of Day 2. Steelix leveraged its high Defense stat to be a wall for his opponents, despite relying entirely on non-STAB moves. As for his third mon, Galarian Moltres, it was able to exert pressure with STAB Sucker Punch. Its poor matchup into Cradily was offset by taking on threats like Lapras and Shadow Marowak.

He also used Shadow Annihilape as a secondary option against Cradily and Lapras. Also, while they didn’t see play, it can be inferred that Shadow Marowak was there to handle opposing Tinkaton, while his own Tinkaton would leverage its typing against Mandibuzz, Lapras, and Golisopod.

Ved Bomb’s Notable Achievements in Pokemon GO

Ved Bomb had previously made quite the name for himself by reaching 4th at Pokemon GO in Worlds 2024. Back then he lost to Inadequence in the Loser’s Finals. However, it was quite the achievement for a player from India to do so well on the world stage and receive a lot of attention at the time.

As a matter of fact, he won the qualification rounds in India against 256 players without a single loss, foreshadowing his eventual victory at Worlds 2025.
