With Z-A being the second game in the Legends series, let’s see what it can potentially do better than Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Pokemon Legends Z-A is less than a week away from release. As the day draws closer, the fans are drawing comparisons to the previous game in the Legends series, Pokemon Legends Arceus. So in this article, we will take a look at the things that The Pokemon Company (TPC) could do in Legends Z-A that would be an improvement on its predecessor.
5 Things That Pokemon Legends Z-A Could Improve Over Pokemon Legends Arceus
If Pokemon Legends Z-A can pull these off, it would be a marked improvement over its predecessor:
- Better Story Progression
- Unlimited inventory
- Overworld interactions between Pokemon
- More Pokemon Battles with Trainers
- Delving into the lore of the Kalos Legendaries
1) Better Story Progression

In Pokemon Legends Arceus, the only way you could progress in the story was by completing missions. These mostly involved filling out the Pokedex, crafting items, and doing a lot of busywork as you traveled across the same locations over and over again. By making the story progression not tied to stuff like catching Pokemon or collecting items, Legends Z-A could make its gameplay loop a lot more fun.
2) Unlimited Inventory

In Legends Arceus, you had to spend a lot of money upgrading your Bag (Satchel in that game’s case). If you were to maximize your storage capacity in those games, it would cost you $4,749,500 in-game currency. This is by no means ideal, as you would end up spending considerable resources just to ensure you could carry stuff.
As long as Legends Z-A brings back unlimited bag storage, or at least a less costly means of carrying your items, there’s no way it would not be an improvement.
3) Overworld Interactions Between Pokemon

One of the best ways to immerse yourself in the world of Pokemon is by observing these amazing creatures interact with each other. Especially if they are doing so in the wild without your involvement. While it’s unlikely we’ll see a level of immersion similar to New Pokemon Snap, just seeing the Pokemon hanging out in the wild would be satisfying.
4) More Pokemon Battles With Trainers

This one already seems to be a focus, owing to the introduction of the Z-A Battle Royale and general online battles. However, in Legends Arceus, there were very few in-game Pokemon battles with other trainers that were amazing boss fights. Having to battle more often with NPCs in-game would be more fun for those less interested in catching Pokemon all the time.
5) Delving Into the Lore of the Kalos Legendaries

Pokemon Legends Arceus did a wonderful job in fleshing out the lore of the many deity-like Pokemon of the Sinnoh (Hisui in that game) region. This is a great sign for the Kalos Legendaries, who have been woefully underrepresented in their own debut generation. Giving more depth to the stories surrounding not only Zygarde, but Mythical Pokemon Diancie and Volcanion as well, would endear them to fans.
