The following guide will help you start and then complete A Call From Mable in Pokemon Legends Z-A, one of the game’s side quests.
A Call From Mable in Pokemon Legends Z-A is the 22nd side quest that you can take on and complete. However, for this quest to trigger, you’ll need to progress beyond a certain point in the game’s main missions. Through this side quest you’ll get your Kanto starter, making it one of the most integral side missions in the game. So, let’s dive right into how you can begin the quest and what you have to do to complete it.
How To Start A Call From Mable in Pokemon Legends Z-A
To begin the quest, you’ll have to defeat Lida as part of Main Mission 08: Reaching Rank V. If you’ve progressed to this point, simply go ahead and rest at any of the Pokemon Centers. You can also speak with the nurse in these centers to heal any of your Pokemon that might have been hurt severely in battle. Regardless of whether you do that or simply rest, Mable will contact you and ask you to meet her at her office. This automatically triggers A Call From Mable quest. Next, you’ll have to proceed to the Pokemon Research Lab to continue the mission.

How To Complete A Call From Mable in Pokemon Legends Z-A
The Pokemon Research Lab is in the southern part of the city, specifically in the Vert District. Once inside the building, you can interact with an elevator and choose 3F: Director’s Office. Once there, you’ll find Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle standing in front of you. Interact with them to trigger a cutscene where Mable will speak to you. You don’t have to go up to her and speak with her separately, as she has little of use to add.
She’ll offer you one of the three Pokemon in the room as a Kanto starter. You are free to pick any of them, based on your preference. Alternatively, you can also base your decision on your Starter choice from earlier. Keep in mind that there could be additional ways to get the other Kanto starters later on in the game. However, you should make your choice carefully here, especially if you’re looking forward to use the Mega Evolutions of one of the Pokemon on offer here.
