After you escape from the Battle Zone in Pokemon Legends Z-A, A New Life in Lumiose City mission will begin.
A New Life in Lumiose City is the third main mission in Pokemon Legends Z-A, which unlocks right after the second main mission. This guide will focus on how to start this mission, where to go, and how to finish it.
This will be a crucial quest as it unlocks various gameplay mechanics for you, including catching wild Pokemon, and Mable’s Research.
How To Start A New Life in Lumiose City Main Mission in Pokemon Legends Z-A
This mission will start after you wake up in the morning, following the events of the second main mission, Escape from the Battle Zone. It will start in your room, and you will have to first go up to the roof. After a short cutscene, you can now go down to the first floor to continue the quest.
Get ready for a lengthy cutscene and a bunch of tutorials.
A New Life in Lumiose City Mission Walkthrough in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Immediately, you will be put into a short cutscene, during and after which a lot of things will happen. These are:
- Obtain the MZ Gear: Your rival will give you a Team MZ Jacket
- Register for the Z-A Royale: Also introduced to the Z-A Royale app.
- Sprint and Roll: These moves will be crucial in battling against wild and Rogue Mega Evolution Pokemon
- Introduction to Lida: Another Team MZ member.
Once the cutscene ends, head outside and talk to your rival. This will teach you about the handy Map feature. Your next objective is to head to the Pokemon Center in front of the Gare de Lumiose. Unfortunately, the path ahead is blocked by rocks. Instead, turn left and climb the ladder to the roof.
From here, you can make your way down and reach the nearby Pokemon Center. Talk to Nurse Joy, and you will receive the Pokedex app. Moreover, you get informed about the next objective: catching five Pokemon for Mable’s Research.
Wild Zone 1
Catching five Pokemon will require you to head to this area, which is located on the same street. Once inside, your rival will give you a quick rundown on how to catch Pokemon. Use ZL to focus on the Pokemon, hold ZR to aim your Poke Ball, and release ZR to toss it.
On the first try, the Fletchling will always escape, so don’t feel distressed if you didn’t get it on the first run. Try again and you will catch it. Afterwards, you will be tasked with catching the wild Bunnelby. This Pokemon is aggressive and attacks you on sight.
Sprint and roll to the side to avoid the Bunnelby’s attacks and defeat it using two of your Pokemon. Once defeated, the Pokemon will be vulnerable (indicated by the stars above its head). Use this opportunity to chuck a Poke Ball and catch it.
Apart from Bunnelby and Fletchling, the other Pokemon you have to catch for this Mable’s Research are:
- Spewpa
- Mareep
Note: You only need these two since your starter Pokemon counts as a registered Pokemon as well.
Lastly, interact with the NPC vendor inside the Wild Zone to obtain a Lumiose Galette for free. This item will cure any status condition from one Pokemon.
Mable’s Research
Head to Mable’s lab on the opposite side of the Wild Zone, and go to the third floor. Talk to Mable to complete her request and unlock the Mable’s Research feature. You will need to complete her tasks and receive TMs and other prizes in return. The first TM you claim is Rock Smash.
Teach this to the Bunnelby you caught for now, and head back outside. You will meet with Naveen, another member of Team MZ. He will give you a hat, and unlock the Outfits mechanic for you.
Now, head back through the Wild Zone to the rocks blocking your way outside of Hotel Z. You can break these now using Rock Smash. Enter Hotel Z to conclude this mission and move on to the next one, Battling in the Z-A Royale.
