This walkthrough explains how you can easily complete Pokemon Legends Z-A Main Mission 20 – A Request From The Rust Syndicate.
Main Mission 20, A Request From The Rust Syndicate, is one of the longer missions you need to complete in Pokemon Legends Z-A. The story outlines how your rival (Taunie/Urbain) has a debt to pay with the organization known as the Rust Syndicate. This results in Team MZ finally coming face to face with Corbeau, and having to work with the organization and do a series of odd jobs. In most cases, this includes Pokemon battles, although they might not prove to be a very big challenge.
With that said, here is a walkthrough for Main Mission 20 A Request From The Rust Syndicate mission in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
How To Complete Main Mission 20 A Request From The Rust Syndicate in Pokemon Legends Z-A
As mentioned earlier, A Request From The Rust Syndicate is one of the longer missions in Pokemon Legends Z-A, and here are all the stages to complete it:
- Defeat Rust Syndicate Grunts.
- Defeat Philippe.
- Talk to Corbeau inside Rust Syndicate headquarters.
- Complete Main Missions to defeat Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon.
- Deal with the troublemaker Pokemon.
- Get rid of Mega Crystals in the Sewer.
- Battle Francois and Vivica of the SCB, and a representative from the Lumiose Safety Group.

Defeat Rust Syndicate Grunts
After completing the Reaching Rank D mission, you need to fast travel to Bleu Plaza. Approach an area with steel gates with Rust Syndicate Grunts standing in front of it. They will challenge you, and you will need to defeat one while Lydia takes care of the other one. Here is the team that the Rust Syndicate Grunt will use against you:

A ground-type Pokemon is going to be the best option since it will work well against both Garbodor and Lairon.
Defeat Philippe in Battle
After you and Lydia defeat the Rust Syndicate Grunts, Phillipe will come out and challenge you. However, this character will not be hostile towards you, unlike the grunts that you just defeated. Philippe will be using Steel-type Pokemon, and here is the team that he uses in Pokemon Legends Z-A:

You will have an easier time defeating this team composition with Fire-type moves. However, this battle will be drawn out due to your opponent’s high defense. Make sure you heal up your team using potions when needed.
Speak With Corbeau
After defeating Philippe in battle, he will take you to their boss, who is Corbeau. The NPC will offer you a deal which will sound preposterous. Irrespective of what choice you make here, the outcome remains the same. You will have to run some errands on Corbeau and Rust Syndicate’s behalf to work out the interest that Taunie/Urbain has accumulated.
After the deal is sealed, you return to Hotel Z and discuss it with your team. Vinnie will also contact you with the details of the next three Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon that have spawned, and you must defeat them to continue with the current A Request From The Rust Syndicate mission in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
Defeat Rogue Mega Evolve Pokemon
The next set of Rogue Mega Evolved Pokemon that you must defeat are separate missions of their own. Although they are not connected to the “A Request From The Rust Syndicate” Main Mission 20 directly, you must complete these in order to progress it.
Here are all the Rogue Mega Evolutions that you need to defeat this time:
- A Rogue Mega Mawile (Main Mission 21)
- A Rogue Mega Barbaracle (Main Mission 22)
- A Rogue Mega Ampharos (Main Mission 23)
Once you are done, you head back to Hotel Z, and Corbeau will call you about your next task.
Deal With Troublemaker Pokemon
The next task is to get rid of troublemakers residing in the old building in the Bleu District. Head there, speak with the requester, and you will find out that the troublemakers are Gengar and Gaastly. Take care of them, and then head back to the requester. Corbeau will check on you to make sure you did your job. He will also give you your next assignment after confirming that you successfully got rid of the troublemakers.
Get Rid of Mega Crystals in The Sewer
The next part of the “A Request From The Rust Syndicate” quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A Mission 20 is fairly easy. Head to the Magenta district Pokemon Center and go down to the sewer area. Another grunt from the Rust Syndicate will be waiting for you here. She will tell you to get rid of 27 Mega Crystals in the sewer. You can use any of your Pokemon’s moves on these structures to destroy them, and also get some Mega Shards in the process.
There will be some Wild Pokemon in this area, and Inkay (evolves to Malamar) will be the most prominent one. You can choose to ignore them completely and just focus on the main mission, however.
Defeat Francois and Vivica of the SCB, and Representative From Lumiose Safety Group
Head to the Centrico Pokemon Center and make your way to the battle court. You will find two more troublemakers, Francois and Vivica, from the Lumoise Society of Battle Connoisseurs, or SBC. You have to initiate battle with them, so here’s a quick rundown of their team compositions.

This battle also introduces you to the SBC group as a whole, and you will soon encounter Lebanne and the head of the SBC, Jacinthe, in the subsequent missions. After the battle ends, Corbeau will appear once again, which scares off the two troublemakers. After a brief cutscene, you hear trouble from a nearby bank. You will then encounter the Lumiose Safety Group and battle them to save the head of Quasartico. This will be the last leg of the mission.

Once you finish the battle, you go through a cutscene before heading back to Hotel Z. You share what happened with your team, and Corbeau will give you another call. This time, he asks you to pay them another visit at the Rust Syndicate Headquarters.
Head inside the building, finish the dialougues, and you complete Main Mission 20 – A Request From The Rust Syndicate mission in Pokemon Legends Z-A. Following this, the Reaching Rank C missions start.
