Learn how to complete An Abra Playmate side quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A and trade Abra for a valuable Riolu.
An Abra Playmate is one of those chill side quests in Pokemon Legends Z-A where you trade instead of battling. To kick off the quest, make your way to Academie Etoile in the Rouge District. You will find Bond standing near a bunch of flowers to the left of the academy entrance. Talk to him, and he will tell you about wanting an Abra to play tag with. That is when he offers a trade for his Riolu.
If Bond is not offering the trade yet, it means you still need to finish Main Mission 10. Once that is done, you can freely start this quest by talking to him.
How To Complete An Abra Playmate Quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Your task is simple: find an Abra and trade it with Bond. You can use an Abra you already have or catch a new one. It does not matter what level or gender it is. Given below are the two major Wild Zones where you can spot an Abra.
- Wild Zone 1 (Main Location): Head to the eastern part of the area where there is a rooftop. Start from the court in the northeast corner. Use a Pokemon with Rock Smash to break the boulders blocking your way. Climb the ladder, move southeast, and you will find Abra hanging out on the roof.
- Wild Zone 5 (Alternate Spot): Enter from the central plaza and head to the upper left area. You will see a ladder blocked by purple sludge. Clear it with a Water-type move. Go through the canal, find another ladder, and climb up to reach a rooftop where another Abra spawns.
Catching Tips
Abra will teleport the moment it spots you. Sneak close and attack before it disappears. Fast Pokemon like Pikachu with his Quick Attack work best here. Avoid tossing Pokeballs from far away since Abra will teleport, and you will waste them. There are usually more Abra on the rooftops, so you can try again if one escapes.
Finish the Trade
After catching an Abra, return to Academie Etoile and talk to Bond again. Choose the Abra you want to trade, and he will hand over his Riolu named Rioluie. The Abra you gave will teleport away to play tag with Bond, and that completes the quest.
An Abra Playmate Quest Rewards
Once the trade is done, you will get:
- Riolu (named Rioluie)
- 300 Poke Dollars
- 5 XS Experience Candies
Riolu is the main reward here and can evolve into Lucario later.
