Aerodactyl is a Rock/Flying-type Pokemon first introduced in Generation 1. For a long time, its high Speed made it a popular lead in the competitive meta. However, its new Mega Evolution in Generation VI gave it an offensive boost as well. So, let’s see how Aerodactyl performs in the Legends Z-A competitive meta.
Best Aerodactyl Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A
These are the moves you want to use on your Aerodactyl if you plan on using it in battle.
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Roar
- Ice Fang
Aerodactyl loses both Dual Wingbeat and Roost in Legends Z-A. This robs it of a usable Flying-type STAB move as well as a self-healing option. Additionally, its Mega Evolution also loses its Ability, Strong Jaw, meaning it will hit a little less hard. However, it still has great Speed and a more than decent Attack.
Stone Edge is Aerodactyl’s best Rock-type STAB move, which it learns at level 45. Earthquake forms a nice “EdgeQuake” combo that is only resisted by Chesnaught in this meta. Teach it the move with TM069, which Mable rewards you with after completing level 34 of her research. Ice Fang is another Mable reward at level 7 of her research that helps Aerodactyl handle Dragon and Grass types. Finally, Roar is useful for pushing away opponents, which Aerodactyl learns at level 25.

Best Aerodactyl Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Go with an Adamant (+Atk, -SpA) nature. As Aerodactyl is already extremely fast after Mega Evolving, going with an Adamant nature boosts its Attack. You can get an Adamant Mint from a vendor in Rouge Sector 1.
Aerodactyl Stats and Location
After completing the side mission “Restored from a Fossil,” you can buy an Old Amber from the Stone Emporium for 30,000 Pokedollars. Restore the Old Amber on the second floor of the Research Lab to get an Aerodactyl.
