Aggron is a Steel/Rock-type first introduced in Generation III. Its weakness laden typing, especially with two 4x weaknesses to Ground and Fighting, made its high Defense stat almost redundant. This changed with its Mega Evolution, which in addition to giving it a bulk boost, dropped its Rock-typing to remove those double weaknesses. So let’s see how Aggron performs in the Legends Z-A meta.

These are the moves you want to use on your Aggron if you plan on using it in battle.

  • Heavy Slam
  • Iron Defense
  • Roar
  • Rock Slide

While Mega Aggron does not have its ability Filter in Legends Z-A to take less damage from super effective attacks, it remains a solid wall. As a result of losing its Rock-typing it can navigate its weakness to Fighting and Ground a lot better after Mega Evolving.

All of Aggron’s best moves come from its level up learnset. Heavy Slam is the best Steel-type STAB for it at level 52, taking advantage of Mega Aggron’s 870.8 lbs. Iron Defense at level 48 makes it even more obnoxious to deal with if your opponent does not have a special attacker. Roar disrupts opponents by pushing them away as they attack, which Aggron learns at level 12. Finally, Rock Slide at level 24 is useful coverage for Aggron to use and acts as STAB when it has not Mega Evolved yet.
