Pokemon Legends Z-A: Best Ampharos Moveset and Nature

Ampharos is an Electric-type first introduced in Generation II. As a slow Electric-type, it struggled to see regular competitive use. Then, in Generation VI, it received a new Mega Evolution, which gave it a partial Dragon-typing. So let’s see how to use Ampharos and its Mega in the Legends Z-A meta.

Best Ampharos Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A

These are the moves you want to use on your Ampharos if you plan on using it in battle.

• Zap Cannon
• Dragon Pulse
• Volt Switch
• Power Gem

Ampharos’ biggest issue was its low Speed while lacking the bulk or offenses to make up for it. This did not change much with its Mega, as despite now having a high Special Attack stat and better bulk, it became even slower. However, with changes in how Speed works in Legends Z-A, as well as less competition from other Electric-types thanks to a smaller dex, Ampharos can actually shine in Legends Z-A.

Zap Cannon is usable in Legends Z-A, with its 100% paralysis rate helping Ampharos greatly. It learns the move at level 50. Dragon Pulse is a useful Dragon-type STAB after it Mega Evolves. Teach it the move with TM075, which you can get in Bleu Sector 4. Volt Switch is an Electric-type move that allows you to reposition. You get TM066 from Canari after completing the main mission “Reaching Rank E.” Finally, the Power Gem is useful against Ice-types after Mega Evolving. Ampharos learns it via level up at level 32.

Get the Ampharosite after defeating the Rogue Mega Ampharos in the mission “A Rogue Mega Ampharos.”

Best Ampharos Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Go with a Modest (+SpA, -Atk) nature. As Ampharos is even slower as a Mega, investing in its Special Attack stat will be for the best. You can get a Modest Mint from a vendor in Rouge Sector 1.

Ampharos Stats and Location

Catch a Mareep in Wild Zone 1. Evolve it into a Flaaffy at level 15 and into an Ampharos at level 30. You can even consider using the shiny Mareep you are guaranteed to encounter in the side mission “A Shiny Mareep?“

• Speed: 55
