Avalugg is an Ice-type Pokemon first introduced in Generation VI. This Ice-type is known for its high Defense stat, which somewhat makes up for its weakness-laden typing. So, let’s see how to get the most out of the Iceberg Pokemon in the Legends Z-A meta.
Best Avalugg Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A
These are the moves you want to use on your Avalugg if you plan on using it in battle.
- Icicle Crash
- Heavy Slam
- Recover
- Curse
Avalugg’s Defense stat of 184 is the fourth highest in the Legends Z-A Pokedex and the second highest of any non-Mega Pokemon after base form Steelix. This makes it a usable physical wall in the competitive meta.
Icicle Crash is the best physical Ice-type STAB for Avalugg, learnt at level 39. Heavy Slam is a useful Steel-type move to handle opposing Fairy-type Pokemon, which it is likely to face in the meta, and is also part of its level-up moveset.
It’s a useful neutral move as well, as it relies on the user’s weight, which, considering Avalugg’s 1113.3 lbs, is very effective. Recover is useful for Avalugg to heal itself, learnt at level 30. Finally, Curse is a useful boosting move, raising Avalugg’s Attack and Defense stat by +1 while dropping its already low Speed by -1. Avalugg learns it at level 9.
Give Avalugg a Leftovers to hold for self-recovery. You get the Leftovers as a reward for completing the side mission “The Best Use for Leftovers.”
Best Avalugg Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Go with a Sassy (+SpD, -Spe) nature. This will help patch up its low Special Defense a bit. You can get a Sassy Mint from a vendor in Rouge Sector 1.
Avalugg Stats and Location
Catch Bergmite, Avalugg’s pre-evolved form, in Wild Zone 12. Although you can attempt to catch the Alpha Avalugg, there really is no advantage to getting it for the competitive meta. As for Bergmite, evolve it at level 37 into an Avalugg.
