These are the moves you want to use on your Dragonite, especially if you are looking to Mega Evolve it later.

  • Hurricane
  • Draco Meteor/ Dragon Pulse
  • Thunderbolt
  • Ice Beam

While Dragonite is a physical attacker in its base form, Mega Dragonite is far more specially inclined. However, this is not an issue. Similar to Generation 1 Pokemon like Clefable, Nidoking, and Nidoqueen, Dragonite has been blessed with a vast move pool. This includes not only Special STAB for both its types, but BoltBeam coverage as well.

Dragonite learns Hurricane when it evolves from Dragonair at Level 55. TM054 Draco Meteor can be found in the post-game in Wild Zone 20. Until then, Mega Dragonite can use TM075 Dragon Pulse, which is located in Bleu Sector 4. TM67 Thunderbolt is a Research Reward from Mable at Level 24, while TM13 Ice Beam can be collected from the center of the court of Wild Zone 12.

Defeat the Rogue Mega Dragonite in Main Mission 32, A Rogue Mega Dragonite, to get the Dragoninite.

Best Dragonite Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A

You can select from one of two natures for the best Dragonite build in Pokemon Legends Z-A:

  • Modest (+SpA, -Atk)
  • Timid (+Spe, -Atk)

As mentioned earlier, Mega Dragonite becomes more of a Special Attacker unlike its base form. As such, a Modest nature will further boost its stat and allow you to deal better numbers. On the other hand, Timid nature that increases Mega Dragonite’s Speed stat might give you an edge in the ranked matches. With a real-time combat, being able to land your shots faster can give you an edge in battle and help climb the ladder easily.

If your Dragonite does not have that nature, you can use a Mint to change it. Buy a Timid Mint from a vendor at Vert Sector 6, while you can buy a Modest Mint at Rouge Sector 1.
