Excadrill is a Ground/Steel type first introduced in Generation V. While known for being an excellent user of Rapid Spin competitively in its base form, it got a new Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends Z-A. So lets see how to get the most out of Excadrill and its new Mega Evolution competitively.

These are the moves you want to use on your Excadrill, especially if you are looking to Mega Evolve it later.

  • Swords Dance
  • Earthquake
  • Rock Slide
  • Iron Head

Just like its base form, Mega Excadrill is a powerful physical attacker. While Rapid Spin is no longer present in the game, it cannot remove hazards or boost its Speed. However, its Swords Dance set still works, especially thanks to the “EdgeQuake” combo of Rock Slide (instead of Stone Edge) and Earthquake, which hits everything in Pokemon Legends Z-A for neutral damage except for Chesnaught.

Excadrill learns three of its moves by leveling up. It gets Rock Slide at Level 32, Swords Dance at Level 36, and Earthquake at Level 46. As for Iron Head, it is TM058, found in Bleu Sector 7.

You can buy the Excadrite at Quasartico Inc. for 360 Mega Shards.

Best Excadrill Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Jolly (+Spe, -SpA) is the best nature for Mega Excadrill. This is because Excadrill has a high base Attack stat as well as Swords Dance for a damage boost. So, going with a Jolly nature is better for a bit of extra Speed. If your Excadrill has a different nature, you can use a Mint to change it. A Jolly Mint can be bought from a vendor at Vert Sector 6.
