Feraligatr is a Water-type first introduced in Generation II. This Pokemon was a starter in the Johto games and returns as a choice in Legends Z-A. However, competitively, it has struggled as a physical Water-type, being less useful compared to Pokemon like Gyarados. Still like the other two starters of Legends Z-A, it got a new Mega Evolution. So let’s see how to use Feraligatr competitively.
Best Feraligatr Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A
These are the moves you want to use on your Feraligatr, especially if you are looking to Mega Evolve it later.
- Liquidation
- Dragon Claw
- Ice Fang
- Aqua Jet
Feraligatr becomes a powerful physical attacker after its Mega Evolution. This is partly because of its new Water/Dragon typing. This leaves it with only two weaknesses to Dragon and Fairy, which indirectly makes Mega Feraligatr better at taking hits. However, it also gives it STAB on moves like Dragon Claw.
Liquidation is the main Water-type STAB for Feraligatr, which it learns by leveling up at 40. Dragon Claw comes as TM002, found at Académie Étoile. Ice Fang is useful coverage against other Dragons, learned as TM015 from Mable’s research rewards at level 7. Finally, Aqua Jet is a useful secondary Water-type move, which Feraligatr learns at level 21.
Get the Feraligite from AZ in main mission 10, “The Secret of Mega Evolution” if you picked Totodile as your starter.
Best Feraligatr Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A
An Adamant (+Atk,-SpA) nature is the best for Mega Feraligatr. With no Dragon Dance in this game, it’s best not to focus on Feraligatr’s Speed stat. Especially as it remains the same as it was in its base form. Buy an Adamant Mint from a vendor in Rogue Sector 1.

If you want to use Mega Feraligatr, pick Totodile as your starter. However, you can catch Totodile in Wild Zone 20 in the postgame.
