This guide will break down the best moveset and nature you should have for a competitive Garchomp build in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Garchomp is among the most overwhelmingly powerful Pokemon in Legends Z-A. The Mach Pokemon is also known as a Pseudo-Legendary one and is also referred to as a Late Bloomer or Powerhouse Pokemon. These Pokemon are renowned for their incredible strength, on par with some Legendaries.
Being part of this elite club, Garchomp is excellent in almost any scenario. Its Dragon/Ground typing gives it access to excellent options for moves. Here is the best moveset and nature for Garchomp.
Best Garchomp Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A

The best moves to put on Garchomp are as follows:
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance
As Garchomp is primarily a Physical Attacker, it is best to have its moveset reflect this. Swords Dance temporarily increases Garchomp’s Attack, taking its damage output from high to gargantuan. This will almost ensure that Garchomp defeats any opponents in one hit each.
Garchomp is a Dragon and Ground-type, so it needs powerful options for both types. Earthquake is the go-to Ground-type move, dealing huge damage in a large area. Dragon Claw, meanwhile, is a fast and powerful attack, perfectly suited to Garchomp. If you want a move that is a little more powerful, you can replace Dragon Claw with Dragon Rush. But keep in mind that Dragon Rush is slightly slower than Dragon Claw.
Finally, Garchomp’s two biggest weaknesses are Ice and Fairy-types. Iron Head, being a Steel-type move, counters both of these at once. You can also replace it with the more powerful Iron Tail.
Best Garchomp Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A
As stated above, Garchomp’s Attack is its highest stat. By pushing its Attack even further, you can perhaps get one-hit knockouts on some Pokemon that would not have gone down in one hit before.
Another option is to boost its Defense or Special Defense to help Garchomp’s survivability. Especially since Garchomp’s attack is already so high that it doesn’t really need help. As such, the recommended natures are:
- Adamant (+Atk/-SpA)
- Careful (+SpD/-SpA)
- Impish (+Def/-SpA)
You can use Nature Mints to change the stats affected by your Pokemon’s nature to the one you want.
