Glaceon is an Ice type Pokemon first introduced in Generation IV. Compared to other Eeveelutions, Glaceon has struggled in the competitive meta due to its low Speed. However, Legends Z-A does not put as much importance on Speed due to a focus on real-time combat. This actually gives Glaceon a chance to shine for once.

These are the moves you want to use on your Glaceon if you plan on using it in battle.

  • Ice Beam
  • Freeze-Dry
  • Shadow Ball
  • Roar

Glaceon has quite a few things going for it. Ice is a very useful offensive type, dealing super effective damage to dangerous types like Ground, Flying, and Dragon. This lets it handle common top-tier Pokemon like Garchomp, Dragonite, and Meganium and their Mega Evolutions. However, this type is very weak defensively. As such, its decent bulk is not as useful as it can be taken out fairly easily with common Steel or Fire-type moves.

Ice Beam is almost a necessity on an Ice-type Special Attacker, which Glaceon learns at level 36. Freeze-Dry is useful not only as a secondary Ice attack, but also as a means to handle Water-type attacks. Glaceon learns this via level-up at 40. Shadow Ball is useful coverage that can be taught with TM074, found by climbing the ladder north of Racine Construction. Lastly, Roar is a useful tech to push the opponent away, causing them to miss their move. Glaceon can learn it from TM005, found on a rooftop in Wild Zone 3.

As for a held item, you can give it a Never Melt Ice to boost Glaceon’s Ice moves. You get this item from the side mission “A Chilling Challenge.” Alternatively, you can go with a Leftovers for a little HP recovery each turn. Get this from the side mission “The Best Use for Leftovers.”

Best Glaceon Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A

A Modest (+SpA, -Atk) suits Glaceon. This Eeveelution is not a very fast one, so it’s best to focus on its offensive potential. You can get a Modest Mint from a vendor in Rouge Sector 1.
