Goodra is a Dragon-type first introduced in Generation VI. It’s that Generation’s pseudo Legendary and the only one so far to not have a dual typing. While it has decent bulk for taking hits, being introduced in the same Generation as the Fairy-type hurt its viability. So let’s see how it does in the Legends Z-A meta.

These are the moves you want to use on your Goodra letting it do well in a Mega Evolution dominated metagame.

  • Draco Meteor
  • Flamethrower
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Toxic

Legends Z-A does not have Abilities, so Goodra does not have its usual Grass-type immunity thanks to Sap Sipper. Additionally, it was not lucky enough to get a Mega Evolution and as such players will be stuck using regular old Goodra. However, the small dex and cut moves make it slightly easier for this slimy dragon to use its bulk. Especially if you want to use a different Mega other than a Dragon-type.

Unfortunately, all of Goodra’s best moves come from TMs. Draco Meteor is the designated Dragon STAB, learned through TM054, which you get from Wild Zone 20. Flamethrower is useful for Steel-types, and Sludge Bomb is great for Fairy-types. The former is TM062 from Wild Zone 17, and the latter is TM053 is a reward from Mable at level 32 of her research. Finally, Toxic is great for stalling out opponents while shrugging off special attacks. You get TM007 for the move in Rouge Sector 2.

The best item for Goodra to hold is the Leftovers letting Goodra heal a little each turn. You can get the item after completing the side mission “The Best Use for Leftovers.”

Best Goodra Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Goodra benefits greatly from a Timid (+Spe, -Atk) nature. This will give your Goodra a speed boost. You can get a Timid Mint by purchasing it from a vendor in Vert Sector 6.
