Kangaskhan is a Normal-type Pokemon first introduced in Generation 1. For a long time, it lacked the tools to be a part of the competitive meta. This changed when it received a Mega Evolution in Generation VI. Not only did this boost its stats significantly, but its new Ability, Parental Bond, also made it a top-tier competitive threat. So, let’s see how Kangaskhan performs in the Legends Z-A competitive meta.

These are the moves you want to use on your Kangaskhan if you plan on using it in battle.

  • Double-Edge
  • Power-Up Punch
  • Shadow Claw
  • Giga Impact

Mega Kangaskhan not having its Ability Parental Bond  in Legends Z-A hurts it significantly. However, it still has respectable stats and a decent movepool despite losing a few key moves.

Kangaskhan has two suitable Normal STABs in Double-Edge and Giga Impact. The first is TM056, which can be found in Bleu Sector 3. The latter is a reward from Mable after completing level 35 of her research. Kangaskhan has had the move Power-Up Punch returned to its moveset in this game, which, besides providing Fighting-type coverage, also gives an Attack boost. Teach this move to Kangaskhan with TM018 found in Wild Zone 9.

Finally, Shadow Claw provides useful Ghost-type coverage that allows Kangaskhan to hit that type effectively. Mable gives you TM061 for it after completing level 7 of her research.
