Mawile is a Steel/Fairy-type Pokemon first introduced in Generation III. It was a fairly weak Pokemon for the first few Generations of its existence. This changed in Generation VI, where it not only got a new secondary Fairy-typing but a new Mega Evolution as well. So, let’s see how Mawile performs in the Legends Z-A competitive meta.
Best Mawile Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A
These are the moves you want to use on your Mawile if you plan on using it in battle.
- Play Rough
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Power-Up Punch
Sadly, Mawile has been heavily nerfed in Legends Z-A in the absence of Abilities. Mega Mawile’s usual Attack stat would be doubled if it had its Ability Huge Power. However, for this game, Mega Mawile’s Attack stat has been raised from 105 to 147. This at least keeps it viable.
Mawile’s best STABs are Play Rough and Iron Head, learned at level 48 and 36, respectively. Knock Off is great for dealing massive damage to Pokemon with held items. Mawile learns this move at level 16. Finally, Power-Up Punch is useful for dealing with Steel-types and gives Mawile an Attack boost. Teach it to Mawile via TM018 found in Wild Zone 9.
You get the Mawilite after defeating the Rogue Mega Mawile in the mission “A Rogue Mega Mawile.”
Best Mawile Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Go with a Jolly (+Spe, -SpA) nature, giving Mawile a decent boost to its Speed. You can get a Jolly Mint from a vendor in Vert Sector 6.

Catch a wild Mawile from Wild Zones 9 and 17, Bleu District, Jaune District, Magenta District, Rouge District, and Vert District.

Mega Mawile’s stats:
- HP: 50
- Attack: 147
- Defense: 125
- Special Attack: 55
