Medicham is a strong Physical Attacker that was mostly utilized due to its Pure Power ability. However, even though abilities have been removed in Legends Z-A, its base Attack stat has been increased to compensate. This makes Medicham a great Fighting/Psychic type to use.

You are advised to watch out for Flying, Fairy, and Ghost-type Pokemon predominantly.

Best Moveset For PvP Medicham in Pokemon Legends Z-A

For PvP, you should use the following moveset on Medicham in Pokemon Legends Z-A:

  • Zen Headbut
  • Brick Break
  • Close Combat
  • Bulk Up

Bulk Up should be your priority before using any other move. It will not only increase your Defense, but also your Attack at the same time. Following this, you can use the rest of your moves depending on the opponent’s weakness.

Brick Break and Close Combat are both Fighting-type moves, which gain STAB (Same Type Attack Boost) if used by Medicham. Brick Break should be used first if the opponent has any Light Screen or Reflect setup. This will let you demolish these defenses.

Afterwards, you can use Close Combat to deal heavy damage, but reduce your defensive stats as a drawback. Lastly, if the opponent is weak to Psychic instead of Fighting, prioritize using Zen Headbutt after Bulk Up.

Best Nature For PvP Medicham in Pokemon Legends Z-A

There is only one good Nature option for Medicham (from a ranked perspective) in Pokemon Legends Z-A. So, you should use a Nature Mint to change into:

  • Adamant (+Atk / -Sp. Atk)

Medicham does not have any significant defensive stats. Therefore, there is no point in using any Nature to increase these, as you will still likely be one-shot if your weakness is hit. Therefore, your best bet is to go all in on offense and use an Adamant nature.

Best Team Composition With Medicham For Ranked Matches in Pokemon Legends Z-A

The following Pokemon pair well with Medicham for PvP ranked matches in Pokemon Legends Z-A:

Excadrill can cover for Medicham’s weakness to Fairy-type Pokemon, while Yveltal can do the same for its Ghost-type weakness. You will likely not see many Flying-type moves used in ranked battles, outside of the occasional Brave Bird.

If you are looking for a Psychic and Fighting type to place on your team, then Medicham can fill this spot. The only other Pokemon that can match this typing is Gallade. So, you do not have many options.

Medicham is also a great Physical Attacker, especially after Mega Evolution.

Best Moveset For PvE Medicham in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Here are the best moves for PvE Medicham in Pokemon Legends Z-A:

  • Close Combat
  • Zen Headbutt
  • Poison Jab
  • Dynamic Punch

Unlike PvP, most NPCs will not be using moves like Reflect and Light Screen. Therefore, you will not need Brick Break under most conditions. Instead, it is better to have more coverage, to cover for Medicham’s weaknesses.

For this purpose, Poison Jab works especially well. It can hit Fairy-type Pokemon for super-effective damage. Moreover, it is a Physical Attack that matches with Medicham’s high Attack stat.

Next up, you can use Close Combat and Dynamic Punch for varying conditions. When you are sneaking up on NPCs in the Z-A Royale, then Dynamic Punch can be a great opening move. If it does not knock out the enemy Pokemon, it will confuse them as well. Afterwards, you can follow up with Close Combat for even more damage.

Lastly, Zen Headbutt is a part of this moveset for the same reason as before. It is a high-power move that receives STAB from Medicham’s Psychic typing.

Best Nature For PvE Medicham in Pokemon Legends Z-A

For PvE Medicham, you can choose from the following Natures in Pokemon Legends Z-A:

  • Adamant (+Atk/ -Sp. Atk)
  • Impish (+Def/ -Sp. Atk)
  • Calm (+Sp. Def/ -Sp. Atk)

Medicham and Mega Medicham can only deal good damage through their Attack stat. Therefore, using an Adamant nature to boost this stat is an easy decision. However, you might not want more damage purely.

Medicham’s defensive stats are nothing impressive. So, you can also use an Impish or Calm nature to get through the game while taking a few more hits.

Best Team Composition With Medicham For Pokemon Legends Z-A PvE

Here is the best team with Medicham for Pokemon Legends Z-A story mode:

This team has extremely wide coverage, with almost every Pokemon having a unique dual typing. Gyarados even covers the Dark typing after Mega Evolution. These Pokemon lock down almost every weakness Medicham might encounter, outside of Flying. However, most Flying-type Pokemon can easily be dispatched by a quick Ice-type move from Gyarados or a Rock-type move via Excadrill.
