Meowstic is a Psychic-type first introduced in Generation VI. This Pokemon has an interesting gimmick as its male and female counterparts have different level up movepools. Male Meowstic has more support moves, while the females are focused on damaging moves. So let’s see how this Pokemon performs in the Legends Z-A meta.

These are the moves you want to use on your Meowstic if you plan on using it in battle.

  • Stealth Rock
  • Future Sight
  • Wish
  • Protect

Meowstic-M, or the male Meowstic, tends to be picked over its female counterpart thanks to its ability, Prankster. This ability gives +1 priority to all non-damaging moves used by Meowstic. And Legends Z-A gave Meowstic a wealth of new support moves, including Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes, Taunt, Wish, Heal Block, and Spikes. Sadly, it does not have Prankster as abilities are not present in Legends Z-A. However, it can still use its vast support movepool to, well, support its allies.

Stealth Rock is amazing in Legends Z-A, and Meowstic should make use of it. Teach it the move with TM037, found in Magenta Sector 6. Future Sight is the best possible STAB, as it deals massive Psychic damage after some time, keeping opponents on their toes. While Meowstic-F learns the move naturally at level 50, the preferred choice is to teach Meowstic-M the move via TM060 from Jaune Sector 6. The reason for this is that Meowstic-M learns Wish, a powerful healing move that restores half of the user’s base HP to itself or its allies, as a level-up move at level 50. Finally, Protect is useful for surviving powerful attacks since Meowstic is quite frail. Mable gives you TM017 for the move at level 4 of her research.

Go with a Focus Sash as a held item to ensure that Meowstic lives one hit from full HP. You get the item as a reward for completing the side mission “A Rematch with Hawlucha.”

A Timid (+Spe, -Atk) is great for Meowstic as it makes it move a bit faster. You can get a Timid mint from a vendor in Vert Sector 6.
