In this article, learn which Pokemon form the best teams to use in Season 1 ranked battles in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

If you want to get the Greninjite, you will need to reach Rank K on the Z-A Battle Club. To perform well against other real-world trainers, you will need to prepare a team of Pokemon that have great synergy with each other and perform unique roles. In this guide, we will take a look at the best teams for Season 1 ranked battles in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
Best Teams for Season 1 Ranked Battles in Pokemon Legends Z-A

In Z-A Ranked Battles, you will need to pick a team of three Pokemon and battle against three other trainers. These Pokemon cannot be from your current party and must be kept in a separate box beforehand. Battles last for three minutes, and you can only switch three times before one of your Pokemon in KOd. With these parameters in mind, these are the best teams for Season 1 ranked battles in Pokemon Legends Z-A:
- Charizard, Gyarados, and Meganium
- Metagross, Salamence, and Gardevoir
- Hawlucha, Starmie, and Tyranitar
1) Charizard, Gyarados, and Meganium

This team uses a Fire-Water-Grass core for a diverse range of coverage. Charizard is selected as the Fire-type because of its access to two separate Mega Evolutions, Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y, both of which have different counters. Gyarados is one of the best Pokemon in the series, being on your team from the early game and remaining useful since.
Meganium is one of the better Grass-types available, providing dual screens and Leech Seed support. Charizard should be used as the Mega Evolution in most games to catch your opponent off-guard, but the others can also be used depending on the situation.
2) Metagross, Gardevoir, and Salamence

This team has a core of Steel, Dragon and Fairy types, coincidentally all of them from Hoenn. Metagross is a beast when it Mega Evolves, gaining a 110 Speed stat, and should be the one you focus on in most matches. Salamence is in a similar boat when it Mega Evolves, although it is more than capable in its base form, able to act as either a physical attacker, a special attacker, or both.
Finally, Gardevoir is a great Fairy-type capable of using its secondary Psychic-typing to deal with pesky Poison-types.
3) Hawlucha, Starmie, and Tyranitar

Finally, we have a core of Fighting, Psychic, and Dark. Hawlucha is a fast physical Fighting-type that moves faster and hits harder after Mega Evolving. Starmie works in a similar fashion, except it’s a Psychic-type and can use Special moves effectively as well. Tyranitar completes the trio as a bulky Dark-type that can act like a tank, shrugging off hits and dealing them back in return.
As some of these Pokemon and their respective Mega Stones are available quite late in the game, you can swap them out for Pokemon of similar typing to make things work in a pinch. Just make sure you use fully evolved Pokemon to increase your chances of winning.
