In this tier list, you will learn about the best Ghost-type Pokemon in Legends Z-A that you should consider using on your team.

There are very few Ghost-types in Pokemon Legends Z-A. The Ghost-types in the game can either Mega Evolve or make their debut in Generation VI. So in this article, we will take a look at the best of them for you to consider using on your team.
Disclaimer: This article will focus mainly on fully evolved Pokemon. However, Doublade and Aegislash will be ranked separately. This is because the former has actually outperformed its final stage in the Legends Z-A meta. Additionally, we will be ranking the Mega Evolutions alongside their base forms where applicable.
All Ghost-Type Pokemon in Legends Z-A Tier List

Here is the complete tier list for all Ghost-type Pokemon in-game:
| Tier | Pokemon |
|---|---|
| S-Tier | Chandelure and Gengar |
| A-Tier | Doublade and Froslass |
| B-Tier | Banette and Gourgeist |
| C-Tier | Aegislash, Sableye, and Trevenant |
S-Tier
These Ghost-types are the best Pokemon to use in the Legends Z-A meta:
| Pokemon | Reasoning |
|---|---|
| Chandelure | BST (Base Stat Total): 520. Chandelure’s new Mega Evolution makes it the strongest Ghost-type Special Attacker in the meta, with a Special Attack stat of 175. Its Fire/Ghost combo is simultaneously good both on offense and defense. |
| Gengar | BST: 500. Even without its Ability Arena Trap, Mega Gengar remains a powerful threat. It’s fast and hits hard, more than making up for its low defenses. This makes it more likely that it will stick around long enough, as it will be able to chain multiple KOs. |
A-Tier

These Ghost-type Pokemon have a few flaws, but can overcome them with decent play and support from their teammates:
| Pokemon | Reasoning |
|---|---|
| Doublade | BST: 448. Doublade is a better defensive pick than its evolution, Aegislash. Its Steel/Ghost typing is amazing defensively with three immunities (Normal, Fighting, and Poison) and nine resistances (Bug, Dragon, Grass, Ice, Fairy, Steel, Rock, Flying, and Psychic). What makes it better than Aegislash is that it can hold an Eviolite, which gives a 50% boost to its holder’s defenses as long as it is not a fully evolved Pokemon. |
| Froslass | BST: 480. Froslass gets a new Mega Evolution. It has two powerful offensive STABs in Ice and Ghost, and is now significantly more powerful and faster. |
B-Tier

These Ghost-types have serious issues and need to have a team built around them:
| Pokemon | Reasoning |
|---|---|
| Banette | BST: 455. The mechanics of Legends Z-A mean that Mega Banette is not dragged down by its poor Speed stat. However, outside of a high Attack stat of 165, it is very frail and can be worn down quickly. |
| Gourgeist | BST: 494. Gourgeist is unique because of how its stat distribution changes depending on its size. All of them have a great Defense stat of 122, and depending on the form, they could have a bit more Speed or Attack. |
C-Tier

| Pokemon | Reasoning |
|---|---|
| Aegislash | BST: 500. Aegislash’s King Shield is very slow and does not work in Legends Z-A as it usually does in the mainline games. This has caused it not to be worth picking in the meta. |
| Sableye | BST: 380. With its Ability Magic Bounce, Mega Sableye is slow and not worth using. |
| Trevenant | BST: 474. With a base 110 Attack stat being its only notable stat, Trevenant does not have much going for it. Pick any other Ghost-type on this list instead. |
