You will not overcome this fight through brute strength alone. Gwynn builds her entire team to punish predictable moves and stall your progress. Your focus should be on speed, type advantage, and avoiding status effects as much as possible.

Gwynn’s Team of Pokemon

Her lineup includes three Ghost-type specialists, all of whom have the ability to use mixed coverage moves. The full team looks like this:

Counters To Gwynn’s in Pokemon Legends Z-A

To beat Gwynn, focus on using Dark, Water, and Ghost types. These types give you offensive and defensive options against her tricky setup.

  • Greninja (Water and Dark): Fast and agile, great with Dark Pulse and Water Shuriken
  • Mega Absol (Dark): Outspeeds most of her Pokemon and is immune to Psychic coverage
  • Aegislash (Ghost and Steel): Use Shadow Ball and King’s Shield to defend and counter
  • Mega Gengar (Ghost and Poison): Can outspeed Chandelure and land hard-hitting Ghost attacks
  • Umbreon (Dark): Acts as a reliable tank if you need to absorb status moves

When planning your move set against Gwynn, you should focus on attacks that directly target her Ghost-type lineup. Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball are both excellent options since they hit her team quite effectively, especially Banette and Gourgeist. These moves also work well against Mega Chandelure if you want consistent damage without worrying about Fire resistance.

For Chandelure specifically, you should bring along Water-type attacks. Moves like Surf, Waterfall, or Flip Turn can deal heavy damage while keeping you mobile. Flip Turn also lets you retreat safely after landing a solid hit, which helps you avoid status moves like Will-O-Wisp.

If Grass coverage and Leech Seed setup of Gourgeist becomes cumbersome, counter it using Ice Beam or Rock Slide. These moves add variety to your strategy and help take advantage of Gourgeist’s secondary typing.

You can also include Protect or Calm Mind in your setup to buy time or strengthen your special stats. Protect lets you dodge incoming hits, while Calm Mind raises your Special Attack and Special Defense, turning your Pokemon into a tank if the battle drags out.

Best Held Items
