Hyperrogue Ange Floette is the final boss you will need to defeat in Pokemon Legends Z-A alongside the Legendary Zygarde.

If you want to complete Main Mission 36 (Operation Protect Lumiose) of Pokemon Legends Z-A, then you will have to defeat Hyperrogue Ange Floette. Defeating this boss is no easy task, especially without a ton of healing items beforehand.
This comprehensive guide will go into the boss attacks, how to defeat it, and what you get from beating Hyperrogue Ange Floette.
How To Defeat Hyperrogue Ange Floette in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Hyperrogue Ange Floette Type and Weaknesses

From the combat conducted against this boss, two conclusions have been drawn:
- Ange is not immune to any type. Due to this, we can safely say that it falls within a type-less category.
- Since this boss appears to be type-less, you can go in with any Pokemon you want and more or less have a similar performance, without worrying about type advantages.
Thus, the stats of a Pokemon matter more in this fight, compared to the typing. Another thing you should know is that the battle is treated the same as any other Rogue Mega Evolution battle or a Wild Pokemon battle. This means that you can retreat your Pokemon into your Poke Ball to avoid an attack.
Moreover, another thing you must note is that you are not directly attacking Ange throughout the boss fight. Instead, two flower-like formations will spring up on the field. These will be your targets, and also the ones you must avoid. They will use several attacks against you and your Pokemon, as detailed below.
Once you defeat both flowers, Zygarde will step in and use an attack to deal a fixed portion of damage. This will trigger both flowers to spring back up, and you will be forced to repeat the cycle.
You must repeat this cycle three times, after which a cutscene will play out where Zygarde will Mega Evolve and put an end to the boss fight using its signature move, Nihil Light.
Attacks Used by Hyperrogue Ange Floette
- Ground Slam: The flowers repeatedly slam the surrounding area. This damages any Pokemon in the area. So, try to use ranged attacks while this is ongoing.
- Pulse Fire: Both flowers (if alive) fire off many projectiles towards you or your Pokemon. It is recommended to retreat your Pokemon while this is happening.
- Ange Beam: The flower will charge up briefly and then fire a long stream of energy forward. If your Pokemon is caught in this, it deals immense damage and will likely knock them out. It is recommended to either run out of the way with your Pokemon, or to retreat it into the Poke ball entirely.
Final Phase

In Ange’s final phase, it will start using the Light of Ruin attack. Fortunately, Zygarde will create a barrier to stop this attack. You must head to the green area beneath Zygarde to avoid this attack. Otherwise, you will be defeated immediately.
If your Pokemon is not following you, consider retreating it into its Poke Ball to avoid the attack as well. The fight does not change from start to finish, and your main objective remains to damage the two flowers.
Best Pokemon To Defeat Hyperrogue Ange Floette in Pokemon Legends Z-A

As mentioned earlier, typing is not really a huge factor against this boss fight. Instead, you will want Pokemon, that either deal the most damage or can take the most damage. Here are some of these examples.
Mega Tyranitar
This Pokemon boasts a large amount of Defense and Special Defense. On top of that, it can also deal a good amount of damage using STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) moves. Some examples include Stone Edge and Crunch.
Mega Hawlucha

Mega Hawlucha’s crowning stat is its Attack. On top of this, it has a decent Defense and Special Defense stat, with a great Speed stat as well. However, what makes this Pokemon great is its moveset.
You can use moves like Flying Press and Bounce to avoid incoming attacks while also making sure to hit your attacks (since the flowers are mostly stationary). On top of this, you get access to moves like Swords Dance and even U-Turn for a quick retreat.
Mega Garchomp
This Pokemon will have some of the highest damage-dealing stats in the entire game. A 170 Attack stat after Mega Evolution is already amazing. Couple this with Garchomp’s deadly Dragon/Ground moveset, and you have a recipe for success.
Dragon Claw, Dragon Rush, Earthquake, and Swords Dance will make quick work of Ange’s flowers.
Other Likely Good Pokemon to Defeat Hyperrogue Ange Floette

- Mega Metagross (high Defense/Special Defense and Attack)
- Mega Chandelure (Respectable Defense and Special Defense coupled with extremely high Special Attack stat)
- Mega Dragonite (same reasoning as Chandelure)
If you are not a fan of using items in battle, you will likely want moves like Wish or Recover to boost your health back up.
Note: Mega Delphox and Chesnaught cannot be tested out at the moment, so it is unclear if they would be good against this boss or not.
Rewards for Defeating Hyperrogue Ange Floette in Pokemon Legends Z-A

In the cutscene after this fight, the pebble in your inventory will transform into Zygardite, the Mega Stone for Zygarde. On top of this, once the mission finishes, you will get access to Wild Zone 20. This post-game Wild Zone is one of the best Wild Zones in the entire game. It will let you access various Pokemon that were previously unavailable.
You will also unlock a bunch of post-game missions, letting you catch Xerneas and Yveltal as well.
