Rogue Mega Banette is a powerful boss in Pokemon Legends Z-A that appears in Main Mission 18. Being a Ghost-type Pokemon, Rogue Mega Banette is particularly challenging to combat, with limited options available against it. Teaming up with Naveen, players will have to field their own Mega Pokemon to have a fair chance at winning the battle.

Mega Banette is a Ghost-type Pokemon, and thus weak to

  • Ghost
  • Dark

Mega Banette is resistant to: 

  • Bug
  • Poison
  • Normal
  • Fighting

Best Pokemon to Defeat Rogue Mega Banette in Pokemon Legends Z-A

To exploit Mega Banette’s weaknesses, use Ghost-type or Dark-type Pokemon. However, other Ghost-type Pokemon will share the boss’s vulnerabilities and be weak to its attacks. The best Pokemon to use against Mega Banette are Dark-type Pokemon.

Absol

Absol is the ideal Pokemon to beat Mega Banette, as it has both Ghost and Dark attack moves, and it can resist Banette’s Ghost-type attacks. Since you beat Rogue Mega Absol during Main Mission 9, Chase That Mysterious Pokemon, you can unlock Absol’s Mega Evolution and use it during the battle with Mega Banette. 

To Mega Evolve Absol during the battle, collect the Mega Power orbs dropped by Mega Banette during the fight. After the meter in the bottom right is full, Mega Evolve Absol to easily defeat Mega Banette.

Attacks Used by Rogue Mega Banette

  • Clones: Mega Banette has the ability to make clones during the battle. You can tell the clones apart from Mega Banette by the small HP bars over their heads, whereas the real boss has no HP bar above it.
  • Teleporting Slash: When Mega Banette charges up an attack, it will teleport its clones to slash at you with three attacks in quick succession. Start running and rolling around it to dodge the attacks.
  • Confuse Ray: When your Pokemon is hit with Confuse Ray, you can switch it with another Pokemon, then switch back to dispel the Confused status effect.

Rewards for Defeating Rogue Mega Banette

Defeating Rogue Mega Banette and completing Main Mission 18 rewards you with the Banettite Mega Stone. Using this Mega Stone on your own Banette will allow it to Mega Evolve during battles.
