Where To Find Cleffa, Clefairy, and Clefable in Pokemon Legends Z-A
In Pokemon Legends Z-A, you can only catch Cleffa and then evolve it to Clefairy and Clefable. Moreover, you have to wait quite a while before proceeding, as Cleffa only appears in specific locations on the map, which can take time to unlock. To help you out, here are all the locations where Cleffa can appear on the map:
- Wild Zone 19 at Night.
- Top of Rooftops in Jaune Sector 9.
Clefairy and Clefable
Note that Cleffa is a rare encounter, which means it does not spawn as often as other basic Pokemon. Therefore, it may take time to find one and catch it. However, if you successfully catch one, you cannot evolve through simply levelling up. To evolve Cleffa to Clefairy, you have to increase its Happiness stat. There is no definite way to see how much Happiness your Pokemon has, but it is easy to raise. Here are some ways:
- Give the Sooth Bell item to your Cleffa before battling. This multiples the rate at which your Pokemon gain Happiness.
- Take your Pokemon to any Cafe on the map and order any coffee on the menu. Doing so can help you increase the Happiness stat of your Cleffa by spending a little bit of in-game currency.
Once your Cleffa reaches maximum Happiness, you can successfully evolve it into Clefairy. Moreover, to evolve it to Clefable, all you have to do is use a Moon Stone on it. You can buy Moon Stones from any of the Stone Emporium shops on the map.

Here are some tips and tricks that can help you quickly obtain all three of these Pokemon in your Legends Z-A playthrough:
- The Rooftops of Jaune Sector 9 unlock very early on in the game. You can rest on Benches to pass the time if you don’t see Cleffa roaming around on the roof.
- You can put Cleffa to Sleep using status moves like Yawn or Sleep Powder to make it easier to catch.
- You can catch Cleffa with almost any Pokeball. However, it is recommended to use Dusk Balls at nighttime to have the best chance at catching one.
- You can evolve Clefairy to Clefable the moment Cleffa evolves due to max Happiness. There is no need to wait or level up, as stones do not require you to reach specific levels.
