Getting your hands on Inkay and Malamar in Pokemon Legends Z-A isn’t particularly challenging. Inkay is a Dark/Psychic Pokemon and can be evolved into Malamar. However, before you begin on this quest to catch these Pokemon, you must complete Main Mission 14, titled “Reaching Rank E”. Once you’re done with this quest, you can begin your journey to catch Inkay.
So, if you have completed the mission already, let’s take a closer look at how you can get Inkay and Malamar in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
How To Get Inkay in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Inkay in Pokemon Legends Z-A can be caught in the Wild Zone 11. As discussed earlier, this zone is only unlocked after completing Main Mission 14. Once you are done with the mission, you can head over to the location (you may refer to the image below) and catch the Pokemon. But that isn’t the only location where you can find Inkay.
After completing Main Mission 20, titled “A Request from the Rust Syndicate”, you can also find Inkay in the Lumiose Sewers. However, this area becomes available only later in the game. Hence, if you are in a hurry, it is recommended to get Inkay from Wild Zone 11. Once caught, you can level it up and begin the evolution journey to get Malamar.

How To Get Malamar in Pokemon Legends Z-A
There are two ways to get Malamar in Pokemon Legends Z-A. They are mentioned below:
- Level up Inkay and evolve it to Malamar.
- Capture it in the Wild Zone 20 (available after Main Mission 38).
The best way to get Malamar is to capture Inkay early in the game and level it up to evolve it. If that isn’t your cup of tea, you can also find it in Wild Zone 20. But you must progress through a lot of missions before you unlock Wild Zone 20. So, let’s take a quick look at how you can evolve Inkay to Malamar easily.
How To Evolve Inkay to Malamar in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Evolving Inkay to Malamar in Pokemon Legends Z-A is an interesting process. Here’s what you need to do:
- Make sure your Inkay is Level 30.
- Play the game in Handheld mode.
- Hold the console upside down.
- While holding it upside down, select Evolve.
That’s it. Your Inkay will now evolve into Malamar. Needless to say, this is quite an intriguing approach to evolution. Just make sure your Nintendo Switch isn’t in the Docked mode.
