Xerneas and Yveltal are iconic legendaries of Kalos that you can catch in Pokemon Legends Z-A. Here’s a guide to help you out.
Xerneas and Yveltal are the iconic legendaries of Kalos in Pokemon Legends Z-A who represent Life and Death. In this game, you can catch both the Pokemon as part of the main storyline, meaning you won’t miss them. However, you first have to defeat the final boss, and proceed to post-game, where you can obtain missions regarding both the legendary Pokemon.
To help you out, here’s how you can catch Xerneas and Yveltal in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
How To Catch Xerneas in Pokemon Legends Z-A
You can catch Xerneas in Pokemon Legends Z-A as part of “The One That Gives” main mission. It appears at the end of the mission, but before that, you have to defeat three Alpha Pokemon to make it appear. Here are all the Pokemon you have to defeat, including their locations:

After you defeat all three of the Alpha Pokemon, return to Mable in Hotel Z, who informs you about Xerneas. It appears in Wild Zone 11, and is Level 75 with Fairy typing. You can use Pokemon like Gengar and Falinks to easily whittle down its HP and catch it. Note that Xerneas starts healing if you lower its health to zero, meaning you have to catch it to end the fight. Doing so also concludes the mission.

How To Catch Yveltal in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Yveltal is the second legendary Pokemon that appears during the Pokemon Legends Z-A storyline. You can catch it during “The One That Takes” main mission, which appears after capturing Xerneas. To start the quest, head to the Nouveau Cafe in the southeast section of Central Plaza and talk to Griselle and Grisham. Now, teleport to Quasartico Inc in the Magenta District, and enter the building.
Talk to Vinnie who explains more about Yveltal, and then learn about a battle simulation which you have to complete to progress the quest. In the simulation, you have to fight three Rogue Mega Pokemon, who are each Level 70. Here are all of them:
After you defeat all three, head to the rooftop of the Galerie de la Lune in the Rogue District. You can fight Yveltal after a cutscene, who is a Level 70 Dark/Flying type Pokemon. Moreover, it can also heal itself like Xerneas, meaning you have to catch it to complete the mission.
Finally, catching both Xerneas and Yveltal unlocks the final mission “To Keep The World In Balance,” in which you can battle Lysandre and catch Zygarde. It also marks the end of the main storyline of Pokemon Legends Z-A.
