Here’s a walkthrough for Josee’s Training side quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A, and what rewards you can get upon completion.

Josee’s Training is one of the side quests you can complete in Pokemon Legends Z-A. This is a straightforward battle where you will be fighting a team of Fighting-type Pokemon. However, what comes next is a battle between two Pangoros. This means you will need to make preparations for both the battle with Josee of the Fist of Justice and the two wild Pokemon.
To help you out, here is a walkthrough for the Josee’s Training side quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

How To Complete Josee’s Training Quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Before anything else, you must first complete the main mission The Infinite Z-A Royale, to unlock Josee’s Training side quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A. Once that’s done, collect enough points to earn a Challenger’s Ticket. Only then will you be able to start the side quest. Once you have the ticket, head to the Justice Dojo and talk to Josee.
How To Defeat Josee
After talking with Josee, she will challenge you to a battle. She will primarily use Fighting-type Pokemon. This means you can capitalize on their weakness to Fairy-types to make the fight a lot easier.
Here is a quick rundown of her team composition:
| Pokemon | Type | Level | Weakness |
|---|---|---|---|
| Machamp | Fighting | 63 | Flying, Psychic, Fairy |
| Scrafty | Dark/Fighting | 63 | Flying, Fighting, Fairy (4x) |
| Medicham | Fighting/Psychic | 63 | Flying, Ghost, Fairy |
| Hawlucha | Fighting/Flying | 63 | Electric, Flying, Psychic, Ice, Fairy |
Battle Wild Pangoro

Once you defeat Josee, two wild Pangoro will appear. Both of you will need to drive them off. The wild Poklemon are both Level 65. They can also use moves like Bullet Punch, Work Up, and Close Combat.
Fortunately, you won’t be fighting them alone as Josee will be using Mechamp to support you. Pangoro is 4x weak to Faity-type moves. This means you can just go for the team you used to fight Josee before. Since they are very weak to Fairy, it will be an easy fight. Additionally, Josee’s Machamp can serve as a damage sponge, so try and stay behind it during the fight.
Josee’s Training Side Quest Rewards
Completing this quest will reward you with coins and the following items:
- 1,500 Pokedollars
- 1x Expert Belt
- 10x Seed of Mastery
The Expert Belt is a held item in Pokemon Legends Z-A that slightly boosts the power of super-effective moves. It’s a good item to have when you are fighting enemies that are very weak to your team composition, like the previous battle with Josee’s Scrafty and the two Pangoro.
