The Jumbo Variety Pumpkaboo quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A is all about helping a trainer named Taille who is looking for a specific kind of Pumpkaboo. You can find her standing near Cafe Action on North Boulevard in the Jaune District. She has three Pumpkaboo already, but is missing the rare Jumbo variety. Your goal is to catch one and bring it to her.
You can only start this quest after finishing Main Mission 35 called Reaching Rank A. Once that is done, new side missions will appear around Lumiose City, and this one becomes available. Taille will remind you that she does not want an Alpha or an XL-sized Pumpkaboo. She needs the one that is actually labeled as Jumbo variety, which is different from the size categories like Small, Medium, or Large.
How To Start Jumbo Variety Pumpkaboo Quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Once you talk to Taille and get the quest, head to Wild Zone 15 in the Jaune District. This area is north of where she stands and unlocks after you reach Rank D. Pumpkaboo appear both during the day and night, but the Jumbo variety only shows up after dark.
If you are there in the daytime, find a bench near the southern gate of Wild Zone 15. Sit on it and choose the option to wait until nightfall. Once it is nighttime, start exploring the grassy paths to look for Pumpkaboo wandering around. Nighttime runs from 8 PM to 4 AM in-game time, so you have plenty of hours to search.
How To Finish Jumbo Variety Pumpkaboo Quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Start at the southern gate of Wild Zone 15 and walk slowly toward the north side. Keep your volume turned up because the best clue for finding a Jumbo variety is its sound. Regular Pumpkaboo has a higher cry, while the Jumbo variety has a deeper one. Once you hear the low-pitched sound, that is the one you need to catch.
You can also look for size differences. The Jumbo variety is larger and nearly reaches up to half your character’s height. After catching one, check the Summary screen. If it says Jumbo variety, that is the correct one, no matter what its size classification shows.
If you do not find one right away, use a quick reset trick. Fast travel away from Wild Zone 15, then return. This refreshes all the spawns in the area. You can also defeat or catch every Pumpkaboo there and wait around four minutes for new ones to appear.
You might notice an Alpha Gourgeist in the middle of the zone too. It is a good idea to deal with it first because its loud noises can make it harder to listen for Pumpkaboo cries. Once you finally catch the Jumbo variety, go back to Taille near Cafe Action and hand it over. She will know immediately if it is the correct one.
Jumbo Variety Pumpkaboo Quest Rewards in Pokemon Legends Z-A
When you finish the quest, you will receive 6,000 Poke Dollars, 5 Seeds of Mastery, and 2 Rare Candies.
Seeds of Mastery are useful at the Justice Dojo, where you can teach your Pokemon Plus Moves. These are stronger versions of regular moves that use a small part of your Mega Ring energy. You can take these seeds to Josee at the Dojo located north of Saison Canalside.
