Pokemon Legends Z-A has a number of powerful Poison-type Pokemon among its roster. While Poison-types are generally not considered that strong, they are excellent at countering Fairy-types, who are currently dominating the meta.

Poison is also a very powerful status condition, and inflicting it can have a huge effect. For these reasons, Poison-type Pokemon are very powerful in their own right. This tier list will classify every Poison-type Pokemon in order of their strength to help you make an informed decision.

Disclaimer: Pre-evolved Pokemon will be considered in the same tier as their post-evolution forms. This is because you will eventually be using their evolved forms. The exception to this would be branching evolution paths, which will be classified separately. Moreover, this will also take their Mega Evolutions into account.

These are the best Poison-type Pokemon in Legends Z-A:

PokemonReasoning
Gengar500 BST (Base Stat Total). Gengar has access to powerful Poison-type moves, an incredibly high Special Attack, and a Mega Evolution to boot. Everything it needs to be a top-tier Poison-type. Gengar is a very powerful Pokemon in general, and is exceptional among Poison-types.
Scolipede485 BST. Scolipede is nothing too special in its base form. But its Mega Evolution changes things a lot. It greatly boosts its Attack, has much better bulk, and loses speed, which is less important in Legends Z-A. It also has access to powerful moves like Gunk Shot, solidifying its case further.
Venusaur525 BST. Venusaur is a solid Pokemon all around, and its Mega Evolution pushes it further. It is already a Tanky Pokemon with decent offense. But with Mega Evolution, its damage becomes quite high, and its bulk becomes immense. Venusaur is one of the absolute best Poison-type Pokemon of them all.
Dragalge494 BST. Dragalge is decent normally. But with its Mega Evolution, it becomes a different beast entirely. High Special Attack and very high Special Defense make it a very effective Poison-type.

A Tier

These Pokemon are very good at their job, but have a few minor flaws holding them back:

PokemonReasoning
Beedrill395 BST. Beedrill is almost entirely unremarkable in its normal form. Thankfully, its Mega Evolution more than makes up for this. However, it has only one Physical Poison move on top of its low Defense, which keeps it from the highest tier.
Roserade515 BST. Roserade has a significant Special Attack stat. But, similar to Beedrill, it knows only one Special Poison move. This reduces its overall effectiveness.
Victreebel490 BST. Victreebel has almost everything it needs to be great. But having even Attack and Special Attack while all its best moves are Special is a flaw, which you will have to work around.
Galarian Slowbro490 BST. This regional variant of Slowbro has powerful Physical Poison moves and high enough Attack to make good use of them.
Galarian Slowking490 BST. Galarian Slowking is more Special focused in comparison to Slowbro. Its moveset has also adjusted accordingly, and it can definitely hold its own.

B Tier

The following Poison Pokemon have multiple weak points, making them worse choices than other Pokemon:

PokemonReasoning
Garbodor474 BST. Garbodor has average to below average Stats all around. As such, it can’t fully capitalize on the powerful moves it learns.
Arbok448 BST. Arbok has the same problem as Garbodor, but to an even greater extent, having even lower stats.

C Tier

These are the weakest Poison-type Pokemon in Legends Z-A:

PokemonReasoning
Ariados400 BST. Ariados has even worse stats than Arbok and Garbodor, and doesn’t have the best moveset either.

Those were all the Psychic-type Pokemon tier list in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
