This Pokemon Legends Z-A walkthrough will walk you through the “Reaching Rank B” main story mission in the game.
Pokemon Legends Z-A’s “Reaching Rank B” quest will see you pushing higher up in the rankings for the coveted Rank B. Standing in your way, however, is Jacinthe. While a promotion to Rank B is as simple as beating her in battle, Jacinthe wants you to run the gauntlet and reach the finals of a tournament to earn the privilege of facing her in battle. This quest is one of the longer quests in the game, and has you facing a ton of opponents. If you’re having any trouble, our guide will walk you through the quest.
How To Reach Rank B in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Entering Jacinthe’s Tournament
Your journey towards Rank B begins shortly after you beat Lebanne at the end of the “An Invitation from the SBC” quest. You get a notification of an upcoming promotion match, after which you need to acquire 41000 Ticket Points to get a Challenge Ticket. This is quite a grind, so you’ll have to head over to the Battle Zone and fight against NPCs to acquire Ticket Points.
Once you have your Challenge Ticket, head over to Hotel Richisimme. This hotel is right along the border of the map on the northeastern side. Enter the hotel and walk through the lobby to find Lebanne. She will then take a photo of you for the tournament bracket, and you can choose to get it clicked or change it and come back later. Pose for the photo, and you can choose to give any expression from the ones available: Fierce, Happy, Glum, and Neutral.
With the photoshoot wrapped up, Lebanne will then take you to Jacinthe, who’s hosting the tournament. Jacinthe will reveal the tournament bracket, and you’re set to face Canari in round 1. Talk to Lebanne to commence the battle.

A Battle With Canari
Canari uses the following Pokemon in battle:
- Heliolisk
- Stunfisk
- Ampharos
- Eelektross
To counter these, we recommend using:
- Excadrill
- Camerupt
These are Ground-type Pokemon and hard counter Canari’s Pokemon roster. Exploit her Pokemon’s weaknesses to emerge as the winner and move to the second round.

A Battle With Ivor
Ivor is your opponent for the second round of the tournament. He uses the following Pokemon:
- Heracross
- Machamp
- Medicham
- Falinks
Seeing as the Pokemon he uses are mostly the Fighting-type, we suggest bringing in Fairy-type Pokemon to hard counter his roster. The following should be good enough to get you through to the next round:
- Gardevoir
- Aromatisse
- Slurpuff
A Battle With Corbeau
Once you defeat Ivor, you move to the second-to-last round, and Corbeau is the opponent that stands in your way. He uses the following Pokemon:
- Arbok
- Roserade
- Gyarados
- Scolipede
Considering his roster is a bit more diverse than the last two opponents, you’ll need both Electric and Psychic-type Pokemon to get through this one. We suggest bringing the following Pokemon:
- Starmie
- Ampharos
Zygarde Crashes the Tournament
Once you’ve reached the end, only Jacinthe stands in your way. Head over to the stage and talk to Jacinthe to begin this fight. Before your fight can begin, however, Zygarde will crash the tournament, followed shortly after by Lysandre.
Zygarde is here because he wishes to face you in battle. Lysandre urges you to accept the challenge, and Jacinthe then makes arrangements for the battle. Once the cutscene ends, walk over to Zygarde and interact with him to start a cutscene. In this cutscene, Zygarde cells will appear in the arena, merging with the Pokemon to transform him into his “50% Forme.” The fight will then begin.
Zygarde, in his new form, is weak to the following:
- Dragon
- Fairy
- Ice
Considering these weaknesses, you’ll do well by using Pokemon such as Altaria, Dragonite, Gardevoir, Aromatisse, Froslass, and Abomasnow. Use a selection of these Pokemon to beat Zygarde.

The Promotion Match
Once the dust settles, Zygarde will be pleased and will leave. Jacinthe will then take the opportunity to challenge you for your promotion match. When the cutscene ends, walk over to her and talk to her to begin the fight.
Jacinthe uses the following Pokemon in battle:
- Carbink
- Aurorus
- Mawile
- Gardevoir
- Clefable
You can easily take on this roster by using Pokemon such as Excadrill or Camerupt. Beat Jacinthe once and for all to reach Rank B and complete the quest.
