In this guide, learn how to reach Rank W in the Z-A Royale in Pokemon Legends Z-A, which is the seventh main mission in the game.
Reaching higher ranks in the Z-A Royale is one of the major points of progress in Pokemon Legends Z-A. Rank W is still early enough that you should not be having too many issues, as trainers aren’t using Mega Evolutions yet. So in this guide, let’s take a look at how to progress in the main missions by reaching Rank W.
How To Reach Rank W in Pokemon Legends Z-A?
Defeat Naveen in a Pokemon Battle
Before embarking on the Z-A Royale, Naveen challenges you to a battle. He has three Pokemon at this point:
- Spinarak
- Sableye
- Scraggy
Use a decent Flying-type like Fletchinder or Pidgeotto to deal with his Spinarak and Scraggy, as both are weak to their STABs. Additionally, Flabebe, which is one of the best Fairy-types for the early game, is great for its Sableye and Scraggy as well. Though it may need healing if it has to take on both.
Defeat Xavi in a Pokemon Battle
Once you have collected 3,000 points by defeating enough trainers in the Z-A Royale, you will be assigned a promotion battle with grade schooler Xavi. If you beat him, you will reach Rank W.
This is Xavi’s team when you face him in the promotion battle:
- Venipede
- Kadabra
- Roselia
- Furfrou
Xavi’s team is decently diverse, meaning no one Pokemon can sweep his entire team. Honedge is a decent pick against him as its Steel/Ghost dual typing gives it plenty of resistances and immunities against Xavi’s team. However, it lacks the bulk to last against all four of his mons.
Especially his Furfrou, which is a huge threat due to its stats being really good at this level. Bring a Fire-type like Hondour or Pignite as well. Not only are they good against Venipede and Roselia, but Hondour’s Dark typing is good against Kadabra, and Pignite’s Fighting typing will give it an edge over Furfrou.
Once you defeat Xavi, you will be promoted to Rank W.
