Stop the Runaway Whirlipede is Side Mission 97 in Pokemon Legends Z-A. Here, you will help a person named Rouland after his Whirlipede escapes. You get involved to stop it before things get out of control. This mission focuses on a single but strong battle, and it becomes available once you reach Main Mission 35, called Reaching Rank A.

To unlock this quest, you need to hold Rank B in the Z-A Royale. You can start this quest by talking to Rouland in the Magenta District. He stands on South Boulevard, west of Wild Zone 9. You will easily spot him looking worried on the sidewalk. Once you talk to him, he explains that his Whirlipede has rolled off somewhere, and he needs help to catch it.

After you accept the task, you should move toward the southern part of South Boulevard. The Whirlipede is not far from where you first met Rouland, so you can find it quickly if you explore the street carefully.

After speaking with Rouland, go south until you find the runaway Whirlipede. When you interact with it, a battle starts right away. The Whirlipede is at Level 59 and has Bug and Poison types. It mainly relies on Rollout, a move that gets stronger with every turn, so you should defeat it fast before it becomes too powerful.

Fire, Psychic, Flying, and Rock moves are your best options. Using a strong Psychic type like Metagross or Alakazam can give you a quick win. You can also go with Fire types like Charizard or Delphox if you want to attack hard from the start. Try to keep your Pokemon at Level 60 or above to stay safe during the fight.

Once Whirlipede faints, you will see a short scene where Rouland thanks you for helping him get his Pokemon back.
