Once you catch Xerneas, the mission to capture Yveltal in “The One That Takes” appears in your Mission List. To start the quest, first head to the Nouveau Cafe in the southeast section of Central Plaza. There, talk to Griselle and Grisham to learn about Yveltal and how Team Flare tried to catch it in the past. After the chat, head to Quasartico Inc in the Magenta District, which is located in the top left corner of the map.

Head inside and talk to Vinnie to learn more about Yveltal and how to prepare for catching it. This leads to him sharing information about an updated battle simulator, which allows you to fight Rogue Mega Pokemon to test your battle merit. Moreover, the Pokemon you fight are each Level 70, meaning you have to prepare before entering the battle. The three Pokemon that you fight are:

And here’s how you can easily defeat these three:

Rogue Mega Victreebel

The main hazard during this fight is the Poison puddles that Mega Victreebel creates on the field. It is a Grass/Poison Pokemon, meaning both Ice and Fire type attacks can melt down its health. Other than that, you can easily tackle this fight with a Mega Froslass or Mega Chandelure.

Rogue Mega Hawlucha

Mega Hawlucha can an easy fight if you hit it enough times while it charges up Flying Press. It is a Flying/Fighting type Pokemon, meaning Flying, Psychic, and Fairy type attacks are super effective on it. It is recommended to use Gardevoir, Dragonite, and Pidgeot, as all of them have good moves that is best suited for this fight, and can Mega Evolve.

Rogue Mega Tyranitar

Rogue Mega Tyranitar is the hardest of the three battles in the simulator. The best way to tackle this fight is by using Mega Falinks, as it can both damage and tank hits from Mega Tyranitar. Due to Tyranitar having very high stats, it is quite hard to stun him out of attacks, meaning you have to dodge quite a lot during the fight. Make sure to carry lots of healing items to heal your Pokemon when they go below 70% health.

Finally, after you defeat all three Rogue Mega Pokemon in the simulation, Yveltal appears on the map for you to catch. It is on the rooftop of the Galerie de la Lune in the Rogue District, which is to the north of the Central Plaza. Note that Yveltal cannot be defeated, as it regains its health back to full. Therefore, you must catch it using any type of Pokeball in you inventory.

Catching Yveltal is quite easy, as you can cancel its attack by throwing a Pokeball towards before it can execute the attack. Use any Pokemon in your team to damage it and stun occasionally using Pokeballs. When you lower Yveltal’s health to at least 30%, switch to using Ultra Balls to finally catch it and complete the mission.
