These cards from the upcoming Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia expansion are likely to become staples in every Pokemon TCG player’s deck

The latest expansion of the Pokemon TCG has been announced at the Japan Championships 2025. This new set, called Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia, is bringing back Mega Evolutions. However, while the Mega Evolutions announced promise to be excellent cards, they aren’t the sole reason for players to be excited about this expansion.
So, here are several cards from the upcoming expansion that are expected to do well in the Pokemon TCG meta.
Note: These cards have been picked based on their Japanese text translations and may be subject to change.
Top 5 Cards From Pokemon TCG Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia That Could Be Meta-Dominant
These five cards in the Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia expansion are likely to shake up the meta:
- Mega Venusaur ex
- Lillie’s Determination
- Pachirisu
- Wally’s Compassion
- Inteleon
5) Mega Venusaur ex

While it may seem odd for Mega Venusaur ex to be the only Mega Evolution card featured on this list, there’s a reason for that. The other cards announced so far may be used as the core, but the cards in them would have to be focused around them. For example, Mega Latias ex will benefit greatly from Latios ex.
However, Mega Venusaur ex’s ability lets it move Basic Grass Energy among your Pokemon as much as you want during your turn. This gives it amazing synergy with cards like Toedscruel ex and Teal Mask Ogerpon ex (Ray Chen piloted a deck with those two as the core to reach 5th at NAIC 2025). It’s also a decent attacker, with its move Jungle Dump. For four Basic Grass Energy, it deals 240 damage and heals 30 damage from Mega Venusaur ex.
4) Lillie’s Determination

Lillie’s Determination is a new Supporter card that might see even greater use than the ubiquitous Professor’s Research, especially near the beginning of a game. This Supporter will let you shuffle your hand into your deck for six cards. However, if you have six Prizes (very likely at the beginning of a match), you can instead draw eight cards. The massive utility of this card as a draw Supporter will ensure that players keep a least one copy of Lillie’s Determination.
3) Pachirisu

Pachirisu’s move, Electrified Incisors, has a powerful secondary effect that will cause players to take it into account. That effect causes the Defending Pokemon to take 80 damage if an Energy card is attached to it from the opponent’s hand.
Even in the current meta where cards having over 300 HP is quite common, 80 chip damage is still something worth considering. Either players would have to account for the damage or find new ways to get around it. No matter what they do, Pachirisu is a card to be feared.
2) Wally’s Compassion

With Mega Evolution being re-introduced, there have been several new mechanics involved with the new cards. For instance, Mega Pokemon ex will award three Prize cards on being KO’d. So, keeping your Mega Pokemon healthy will be of high importance.
Enter Wally’s Compassion. This Supporter card will heal all the damage from your Mega Pokemon but you will have to return any attached Energy to your hand. This synergizes well with cards like Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex who can act as an Engine for Energy acceleration with a single Energy.
1) Inteleon

Inteleon is a card that can KO almost any card in play as long as it has low enough health. Its first move Bring Down will KO the Pokemon in play with the least HP remaining (it itself is immune to this). While only a single Pokemon will be selected in case of a tie, the possibilities are endless for the creative player.
