In the postgame of Pokemon Shield, our rival Hop manages to befriend the Legendary Pokemon Zacian. As a celebration of that moment, comes the card Hop’s Zacian ex, a Metal-type Basic Pokemon card. However, this card isn’t just there for sentimental reasons. In combination with several other Hop-related cards – some of them not even being Pokemon – this deck can be quite a consistent force.

Pokemon TCG Best Hop’s Zacian Ex Deck Guide Overview

The key to this deck is to set up your Hop’s Zacian ex as quickly as possible and use its first move to attack your opponent. Several cards can help you, including Trainer cards like Hop’s Choice Band, Hop’s Bag, and Postwick. There are also several Hop’s Pokemon that can serve as secondary attackers like Hop’s Snorlax and Hop’s Cramorant.

How To Play This Best Hop’s Zacian Ex Deck in Pokemon TCG

Ideal Starting Hand

You want Hop’s Zacian ex in your starting hand to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible. Additionally, the Stadium card Postwick and the Pokemon Tool Hop’s Choice Band are useful to immediately use in conjunction with Hop’s Zacian ex as well.

Here’s the strategy for this deck:

  • Hop’s Zacian ex can attack almost immediately from the Active Spot if Hop’s Choice Band is attached. This Tool not only boosts any Hop’s Pokemon’s moves by 30 but also lowers their cost by one Energy. This makes the card’s first move Insta-Strike completely Energy-free.
  • Insta-Strike does 30 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokemon and one of their Benched Pokemon normally. However, that damage gets boosted to 60 with Choice Band. Additionally, if the Stadium card Postwick and the Basic Pokemon Hop’s Snorlax are in play, they add 30 more damage. So Insta-Strike can potentially deal 120 damage at no cost.
  • Hop’s Snorlax itself is a good secondary attacker with a Hop’s Choice Band equipped. Hop’s Cramorant can be a good attacker in the late game when your opponent has 3 or 4 Prize Cards left.
  • Hop’s Bag is a useful Item card to find all the above-mentioned Hop’s Pokemon.
