Learn about the Black Bolt White Flare pull rates and your chances to get an Illustration Rare or a Black White Rare.
Most players have noticed that the new Black Bolt White Flare expansion introduced a new rarity called the Black White Rare. This should have inadvertently affected the pull rates of the booster packs from this set. Except (as noted by TCGplayer), even when over 700 booster packs from this expansion combined were opened, not a single BWR card was pulled.
The pull rate for Illustration Rares (IR) was much higher, with one in every six packs. For comparison, Destined Rivals only had one IR in every twelve packs. It is worth mentioning that there are a total of 139 IRs in the combined Black Bolt and White Flare expansion. This makes hunting for a specific card very difficult.

As we can see, players are likely to encounter cards of a certain level of rarity when opening any random booster pack. But if we disregard duplicates, the pull rates for specific cards drop drastically.

This pull rate data indicates that players may have to buy more booster packs if they are searching for a specific card. As a result, this can be costly if they are hunting for a particular card.
These pull rates do not mean that you cannot get a specific card. Since these packs are random, there is a chance you could even get a BWR card. However, the odds remain low, so temper your expectations accordingly.
